THE WORLD SCHOLARS CUP 2014
SELECTION PROCEDURE / MANUAL
Theme for 2013-2014: The World Within
We are glad to note that, the 2014 WSC season is beckoning. As it is our tradition here
at our school, we are ready to select, train/prepare and present our best scholars for
this amazing showcase.
Regarding the invitation letter handed to us from your office, We are glad to note that
we are ready to once again ''Rock " this town ( on a light touch).
We would like to suggest the following selection procedure:
1) Announcement made in assembly - there should be a clear message going out: that
the potential qualifiers should possess debating, creativity and organizational skills.
2) Candidates to submit short typed submissions on why they want to participate.
3) The students will be assessed using a developed marking scheme.
4) Successful candidate grouped in teams of 3’s.
5) The scholars to be briefed adequately on the requirements and expectations of
participating in the tournament. This includes: the theme, topics in each study area,
assign each team member with specific topic. This would lead to specific member
becoming the team leader in each of this area: debating, essay writing or scholars
challenge. This will guarantee a smooth co-ordination in each team.
6) Communicate info on training and guidance dates and timings of the teams by the
coaches /chaperons to ensure proper understanding of the rules of debating essay
writing, bawl questions and indeed content mastery.
7) Further, the school reserves the right to reconstitute the Global Round teams in
consultation with the participants. This is due to the possibilities of the changes that
may follow the initial teams membership.
