B. Demountable Wall Environmental
Characteristics Requirements
B1. The demountable wall system shall have at
least a Level 2 certification as recognized by BIFMA.
B2. The demountable wall system shall have a SCS
Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification or
equivalent. This approval guarantees conformance
to indoor air concentrations meeting ANSI/BIFMA
M7.1-2011, California Specification 01350, and
ANSI/BIFMA e3-2012 testing, conducted in an
independent third-party air quality testing
laboratory.
B3. Total of a solid panel with steel painted
faces/shells should meet a minimum Pre-consumer
Recycled Content of 25%.
B4. Total of a solid panel with steel painted
faces/shells should meet a minimum Postconsumer Recycled Content of 46%.
C. Demountable Wall Product Requirements
C1. The base assembly with an integrated leveling
system shall be permanently attached to the panel.
C2. Panels are stackable (top or bottom) to
accommodate ceiling height changes and panel
type changes (i.e., solid/glass or glass/solid
configurations).
C3. Factory installed panel shells or faces shall be

allow for an adjustment of ± 1" for a 4” base and ±
1 ½” for a 5” base.
C5. The factory assembled system must be unitized
(not stick built), non-progressive and modular,
allowing the removal of individual panels from any
location without disturbing adjoining units and
providing interchangeability of panels and door
units on the same module.
C6. The system can offer a single center reveal
design with concealed variable vertical slotting for
wall-hung furniture components.
C7. With a 3.5" thickness, the demountable wall
solid panel shall easily accommodate a standard 3"deep 1-gang electrical box in the base or in the
panel face, which allows for future power/data
considerations.
C8. Standard Powdercoat paint and clear anodized
finish options for the trim (base, framework) will be
offered at the same price.
D. Demountable Wall Quality Requirements
D1. Solid panels shall provide an overall sound
transmission class of not less than 48 STC rating in
accordance with ASTM E-90, ASTM E412 (Flush
ceiling channel, non-furniture slotted)
D2. Solid panels shall provide an overall sound
transmission class of not less than 44 STC rating in
accordance with ASTM E-90, ASTM E412 (recessed
ceiling channel, slotted for furniture)
D3. Demountable wall manufacturer must be
approved for use in cleanrooms. According to CSI

IBC Section 1607.14 and 2009 and 2006 IBC Section
1607.13.
D5. Solid panels meet or exceed the load-bearing
of not less than 7 lbs. / linear inch (3.175 kg/ 25.4
mm distributed proof load when tested according
to BIFMA X 5.6, Section 03, Table 06.
