Daikin’s fully flat cassette – Design and Genius in one Daikin’s new fully flat cassette’s iconic and unique design, combined with high energy efficiency and comfort levels, offers architects a flexible and stylish solution to climate control in commercial buildings. Blending design with function The fully flat cassette is the first commercial indoor unit developed specifically for the European market and is the result of a collaboration between Daikin and renowned international product designer yellow design. The cassette is designed to blend seamlessly with modern commercial building interiors and is the first to fit completely within a standard European ceiling tile, enabling lights, speakers and sprinklers to be installed in adjoining panels. Available in white or white and silver, the fully flat cassette blends design with function perfectly, with its flush fit, four-way air distribution and optional intelligent sensors that ensure it meets the highest demands of architectural design, while delivering excellent comfort and exceptional seasonal energy efficiency (up to A+). Although this is the first collaboration with yellow design, Daikin has already led the way in creating systems with a high level of design, with its Nexura and Daikin Emura domestic air conditioning ranges that also blend seamlessly with any modern interior design. Daikin Emura won the Good Design Award 2011 and iF Product Design Award 2010 for the quality of its design, workmanship and choice of materials, as well as its high degree of innovation, energy efficiency and functionality. It also received a Red dot Design Award honourable mention in 2010 and was nominated for the Designpreis Deutschland 2011. yellow design is an agency network located in Cologne, Pforzheim, Berlin and Tokyo offering a complete range of services from brand strategy to product design and product development. For almost 40 years, yellow design has worked with international corporations, as well as small and medium-sized businesses and institutions in a variety of industries. Clients include BMW, British American Tobacco, Lufthansa, GlaxoSmithKline, Pelikan, Hoesch, Swatch and Lindt & Sprüngli. yellow design has won more than 80 international design and innovation awards. A flexible solution for modern building design Modern commercial buildings are designed to be flexible, allowing businesses to reconfigure spaces using temporary and permanent partitions. However, this can mean that indoor units end up close to a wall, or in a corner, creating problems with air flow. The fully flat cassette’s four flaps can be opened and closed to redirect air flow as required, avoiding this potential issue. This results in increased design flexibility for architects and reduces potentially costly issues for building owners when it comes to refurbishing buildings. Reducing environmental impact Architects are increasingly having to design climate control systems to meet ever-tightening environmental legislation. The fully flat cassette, which can be used with Daikin’s class-leading Sky Air and VRV systems, cuts energy use dramatically and lowers carbon emissions, without compromising comfort levels. Sensor-driven comfort and air quality The fully flat cassette’s optional intelligent sensor kit includes a presence sensor and floor sensor to further improve efficiency and comfort. The presence sensor can reduce energy consumption by up to 27% and adjusts air flow to ensure comfort throughout the room, while the floor sensor re-directs air flow to ensure a more even temperature distribution. The fully flat cassette also has advanced filters, fitted as standard, to remove dust particles to ensure the air is clean. The system can also reduce humidity levels, without varying room temperature. An added benefit is the fully flat cassette’s 25dBA sound pressure level, making it the quietest on the commercial market. Daikin’s new fully flat cassette – Design and Genius in one With the launch of the fully flat cassette, Daikin is once again leading the way in the design and technology of climate control systems. This is not a case of form over function – the fully flat cassette’s iconic design makes it suitable for any contemporary commercial space, without compromising on comfort levels, air quality and energy efficiency. Whether it is part of a Sky Air or VRV system, the new range offers architects, building engineering consultants, installers, building owners and businesses a flexible and stylish solution to climate control. www.daikin.eu > Ends Editor’s notes: About Daikin Europe N.V. Daikin Europe N.V. is a major European producer of air conditioners, heat pumps and refrigeration equipment, with approximately 5,500 employees throughout Europe and 10 major manufacturing facilities based in Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey and the UK. Globally, Daikin is renowned for its pioneering approach to product development and the unrivalled quality, design and versatility of its integrated solutions. With more than 50 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of heating and cooling technologies, Daikin is a market leader in heat pump technology. Daikin Altherma and Daikin VRV are the most sold heat pump systems in Europe, with over 500,000 systems delivered to date. Sky Air – the seasonally-efficient solution for light commercial applications The FFQ-C fully flat cassettes, with cooling capacities of 2.5 to 5.7kW and heating capacities of 3.2 to 7kW, are designed to be used with Daikin’s Sky Air Seasonal Smart and Seasonal Classic ranges in light commercial applications such as shops, restaurants, offices and data rooms. Meeting the latest European legislation on seasonal efficiencies that came into force on 1st January 2013, Sky Air’s inverter-controlled heat exchangers and compressors have lower energy consumption as they use only the power necessary to match the load. As a result, the units run most efficiently at partial loads and so are optimised to perform at their best in real life conditions. VRV IV – the latest Daikin innovation Daikin also offers a range of fully flat cassettes for larger commercial applications (FXZQ-A), to be used with its VRV heat pumps. The FXZQ-A cassettes have cooling capacities of 1.7 to 5.6kW and heating capacities of 1.9 to 6.3kW. The latest VRV IV equipment achieves a new benchmark for efficiency, featuring major enhancements to the already industry-leading VRV solution. The new VRV IV heat pump’s variable refrigerant temperature technology can deliver a 28% increase in seasonal efficiency and provides continuous comfort, even in defrost mode. Additionally, the new VRV configurator simplifies commissioning and servicing. This advanced software allows the remote configuration of settings that can be used at multiple sites, so less time is required on the roof configuring the outdoor unit. Ongoing maintenance is easier too, thanks to a graphical interface that allows engineers to evaluate operational data and errors.
