School planning process
Tibooburra Outback Public School will provide an
educational community where every student will be able
to become an effective 21st century citizen. We value
every child’s learning journey and ensure we provide
them with a variety of learning experiences where they
can collaborate within our educational community.
Tibooburra Outback Public School is situated 345km
north of Broken Hill in the Corner Country. We are part
of the Far West Network of schools. Our Family
Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) for 2014 was
117 which is higher than the average of 100 and
reflects the school’s socio-economic status. We are a
small isolated rural school with 10 students
Kindergarten to Year 6. Our students have strong
partnerships with the local community and neighbouring
schools. We have an active Parents and Citizens
Association (P and C) and many other links to the
Tibooburra community. We also regularly work with
White Cliffs and Wanaaring Public Schools. As a result
of recent restructuring we no longer provide School of
the Air lessons however we have retained all the
infrastructure.
Parents and Community;

families within the school as well as local families
participating in School of the Air and local
community members were invited fill out an online
survey through Survey Monkey in term 3 2014.

The principal spoke individually to all community
representatives on the P and C who were unable
to attend this meeting to discuss with them the
strategic directions and improvement measures
and their feedback was also added to the boards.

These results were added to boards to be
discussed at a planning meeting on Wednesday
15th October 2014.

During the meeting the schools vision and
strategic directions were collaboratively written.

At the planning meeting on Wednesday 1st April
2015 the strategic directions including the
purpose, people, processes and products were
viewed, modified and changed.

The Principal also met and collaboratively planned
with the Principals from White Cliffs and
Wanaaring Public Schools

implemented across the school,
ensuring that all student data is kept in
the one place and easily monitored.
Product – Students display a confidence
and understanding of the Literacy and
Numeracy continuums to accurately
identify where they are currently and
demonstrate how they can progress.
Product- Detailed record keeping across
all areas is maintained with consistent
teacher judgement being monitored.
What are our newly embedded practices
and how are they integrated and in sync
with our purpose?
Practice – A culture exists within the
school of assessment data and
personalised goal setting to drive learning
experiences.
Practice – School has active partnerships
to collaboratively maintain continuity of
learning for all students.
Evaluation Plan: The implementation
and success of the plan will be
monitored and evaluated through the
ongoing milestone process and
evaluating school based data and
programs.

educational community by developing the
necessary skills to achieve in this
collaborative environment.
Staff: actively seek connections with the

Improvement Measures

transitions into Year 7, evidenced by
student and family satisfaction

Will participate in surveys to discuss
how they have transitioned into Year 7.
Staff: will develop strong partnerships
with feeder schools to maintain a
smooth transition for all students into
Year 7. They will create social stories
for students. This process will start in
Year 5.
