NIJMEGEN MARCH SELECTION WEEKEND A huge congratulations must go to Colour Sergeant Matthew Jeffrey, Sergeant Seb Hampson and Corporal Ben Pullan who have now passed their selection weekend for the Nijmegen Marches which will be held in and around Nijmegen, Holland this summer. The gruelling selection weekend was held at RAF Cosford and the team members had to walk 50 miles in two days. Each day began with a 04:30hr reveille, followed by breakfast at 05:00hrs and marching commencing at 06:30hrs. 14,000 cadets took part in this weekend and it was a truly international event, with cadets from all over the world, including Dutch, American and French teams taking part. Despite blisters, sunburn and heat rash, the trio from Barnard Castle CCF were determined to complete the selection, and will now make up a team of 15 along with cadets from Durham ACF. Training will still continue throughout the term, as the team will have to walk 100 miles over for days to complete the Nijmegen March. Major C E Connor
