Anyone involved in the construction industry can be caught up in a legal claim, which has the potential to have major implications for their business and personal life. Do you want to learn from the mistakes of others and reduce your risk of being sued? RECOGNISING DEFECTS 101 What does the Building Amendment Act mean to me? Do you need a refresher of the rules? Do you have a good understanding of what is, and what is not, a defect? What is a defect? What does this mean for main and subcontractors? This workshop briefly covers the sections of the Act which describe this new requirement. SEISMIC COURSE FOR NON ENGINEERS (FULL DAY) The Canterbury Earthquakes that occurred in 2010 and 2011 highlighted one thing very clearly. When a major event occurs in a large populated centre there will always be a shortage of skilled experienced personnel to meet the needs of the people living in those areas — certainly in the short-term. The resulting programme will enable participants to assist, or work under the guidance of, the engineering profession should or when another event of this nature occurs, or assist with other activities such as, for example, the assessment of earthquake prone buildings.
