Starfish Release Notes On Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10 pm ET, we will be upgrading our Operations environment to Starfish® 2.2. Please expect up to two hours of downtime. New Features Referrals, To-Dos and Kudos, Oh My! Now you can not only flag a student but you can also a student or create a To-do for a student. Or, is the student doing a great job? Give them a kudo to acknowledge their good work. Administrators can set up tracking rules of each of these types. Look for all of these on the students list and in the student folder. Even better, Starfish EARLY ALERT clients can add any of these to Starfish surveys making it easier for instructors to refer students to services, assign tasks to students or just encourage students to keep up the good work. The details: Starfish EARLY ALERT™ adds Flags and Kudos. Starfish CONNECT™ adds Referrals and To-dos. The Network Helping students succeed is a team effort. Starfish now makes it easier for all of the members of a student's Success Network to communicate with each other as they work to help the student. A new "Network" sub-tab has been added to the student folder. View the members of a student's Success Network and their contact details, and email them directly from Starfish. These emails are saved and can be viewed in the student's Notes tab for future reference. We can even make a specific role always "hidden", e.g., mental health counselors. Student Folder: No GPS Needed We heard a lot of complaints about how users got lost once they linked to the student folder. "It's too hard to get back to what you were doing." Now the student folder will just overlay the current page. When you close the folder window, you'll be where you were. Export Starfish Data Starfish already allows you to import data from many different sources. Now, you can export data from Starfish to use in other applications, like CRMs and Data Warehouses. A new Starfish export tool can produce files automatically that reflect changes in Starfish. Thanks to our partners at the great CRM/admissions software company, Intelliworks, for their help here. Accessible Starfish for Students The Starfish student experience is now even more accessible. It conforms to level AAA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0). Compliant faculty/staff and administrator interfaces are coming. TIPS & TRICKS What are all these buttons on the Students List and Student Folder? You might notice that there are some additional buttons in the Student Folder and on the Students List. In addition to raising flags, users can now create a to-do, refer a student or give the student kudos. In our previous release we combined all of these options in a single Track button. You voiced your concern with this change, and we heard you loud and clear. The Track button has been replaced with separate buttons for each of the tracking types available to you. Thanks for your feedback. Don't forget to check out our Starfish System Status Twitter page at http://twitter.com/starfishstatus for regular updates on system performance, stability and downtime.
