Residence Halls Open for New Students
New students living in Almy, Ohio, Lawrence, Niagara and Perry halls should check in at their assigned building for
their room keys and Welcome Week schedule. Students living in the on-campus apartments, Senat, Porcupine,
Tiffany, or Tigress halls should check in at the Housing and Food Services check-in table located in the south
entrance of Dobbins Hall.

Collection Bins in Residence Halls and Other Designated Locations on Campus
Please remember to bring a school supply item to support the needs of our local children and schools. Suggested
items being collected include a box of crayons, construction paper, pencils, erasers, etc. Collection bins will be
located in the residence halls and other designated sites on campus.

Health and Wellness Center
Carriage House
The staff of the Health and Wellness Center is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to answer any questions
concerning the health care services available to all students. Those wishing to drop off their allergy serum and to
schedule an appointment for administration during allergy clinic held on Wednesday afternoons may do so. You can
also schedule your pre-immunotherapy evaluation and examination required to be completed by one of our health
care providers prior your first allergy injection visit. The meningitis vaccine, recommended for all students, is available
for any student needing to be immunized. The cost for this vaccine is $110. As with any charges incurred at the
Health and Wellness Center, they may be placed on the student's semester bill or be paid by cash, check, or lion
cash at the time of the service. A receipt is provided to the student for insurance processing by the student or
student’s family.

Comedian Ty Barnett (Mandatory Event)
Junker Center
Comedian Ty Barnett, a native of Chicago, got his comedic start at the Comedy
Underground in Seattle; since then, his star just keeps rising! With a dedication to
"BRINGING THE FUNNY", his shows have been called "hilarious," "thought provoking,"
"edgy," and made him a regular on the college circuit. It's also earned him numerous
television appearances including the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, HBO’s "Bad Boys of
Comedy", and VH1's "Black to the Future" specials to name a few. His amazing run on
"Last Comic Standing", introduced Ty to the world and he's been cracking people up
ever since.

As the newest members of the Penn State community it is important to understand our commitment to our campus

Greener Behrend have planned a few service projects where you can meet new people, get to know your new
surroundings and make an impact through service. Participation in the following projects are on a first come, first

PRESQUE ISLE BEACH CLEAN UP
Now that you’re in Erie, it’s time to get involved and check out Presque Isle’s beaches. We will be cleaning
beaches during the first service project of the year. Bring a friend and wear shoes and clothes that can get
wet. Transportation and gloves will be provided. Bus leaves campus promptly at 10:15 a.m.

WINTERGREEN GORGE WEED WARRIOR PROJECT
Experience the beauty of the Wintergreen Gorge, one of Behrend’s crown jewels, while helping identify, mark and
properly remove invasive species. Volunteers will work with lead stewards and fellow new students to give native
plant species a better chance of spreading, gradually becoming a larger part of the ecosystem here on campus again.
Supplies will be provided but be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toed footwear. No transportation
necessary.

Students who attend the 2016 Penn State Behrend Student Leadership Conference will choose from over 20 different
leadership sessions focused on individual leadership and at the organizational level. Sessions offered will be useful
for all students ranging from emerging leaders through experienced leaders.
Round trip transportation to and from the Bayfront Convention Center, Friday night lodging at the Erie Sheraton
Bayfront, three meals and complimentary snacks, and entertainment are all provided. Cost is $20 per student.
