About DESIGNxRI
DESIGNxRI (DxRI) is an initiative working to coalesce the design talent in Rhode Island. DxRI’s goal is to maximize
the assets of the design community and highlight its innovative problem-solving practices to create more
business opportunities and nurture growth in the design industries in Rhode Island.
About the Rhode Island Design Hall of Fame
The DESIGNxRI Rhode Island Design Hall of Fame has been established to celebrate proven leaders in the RI
design community. Up to five individuals from different design disciplines will be honored with induction into the
DESIGNxRI Rhode Island Design Hall of Fame as part of the DESIGN WEEK RI program. This year the jury will
select up to five honorees total from two categories:

Lifetime Achievement
The Lifetime Achievement Hall of Fame Award recognizes the RI-based designers who have made
significant contributions through their design practice to the design industry, other industry sectors, and
the community. In addition to an impressive portfolio, Lifetime Achievement honorees exhibit a lifelong
passion for positive engagement with the design community.

Emerging Designers
The Emerging Designer Hall of Fame Award recognizes RI-based designers who are impacting the field
of design and the community at large through their work. Emerging Designer honorees will show a
sophisticated body of work within their discipline and a consistent commitment to improving the design
industry and/or broader community.
Rules
The Hall of Fame Design Jury reserves the right to re-assign entries between categories. We encourage repeat
submissions from prior years (unless applicants have already been selected and admitted into the Hall of
Fame). All submissions must be received by 5:00 pm EST July 31st, 2015.
Criteria
The submission criteria is the same for both Lifetime Achievement and Emerging Designer categories.
Applicants must be individual design professionals primarily living and working in Rhode Island. Applicants must
have made significant and noteworthy contributions through their design practice and be able to demonstrate
the impact of their design to clients, industry (design or other), environments (economic, social, literal), and/or
locations (place, city, state, country, world). Special consideration will be given to applicants who have proven
to be advocates for design and raising awareness of the impact of the design industry; acted as mentors to
younger members of the design community; and/or made a significant contribution through their design to
Rhode Island.

Application Requirements
The application must include the following:
 A bullet-pointed list outlining why the individual is the ideal candidate for the DESIGNxRI Hall of
Fame Award.
 A portfolio of up to 20 single sided (10 double sided) pages that tell the story of the individual’s
design career and focus. Photos with descriptive captions or narratives are encouraged. The
format of this has been decidedly left open to encourage incorporating a personalized design
sensibility, if desired.
 An updated curriculum vitae inclusive of awards, volunteer and mentorship activities, etc.
The above documents must be submitted in the form of a single PDF and emailed to halloffame@designxri.com
by 5:00 pm EST July 31st, 2015. Any entries received past this deadline will not be considered. For presentation
purposes, keep in mind that the jury will review each pdf on a large monitor as a group. Please keep
submissions to a maximum of 8 MB.
A panel of distinguished design professionals and educators will review all applications and select the 2015 Hall
of Fame inductees, who will be contacted by September 1st, 2015 and honored at the DxRI Hall of Fame Award
party during 2015 Design Week.
