Single Survival Microwave Period: ________ Kitchen Number: __________ Microwave Baked Apples Yield: 4 small apples Ingredients: Equipment needed: 4 small Granny Smith apples 1/4 C brown sugar 1/2 tsp nutmeg 2 tsp cinnamon 4 carmels 2 T butter Optional- Spoonful Granola Optional-Dollop cool whip Circle items needed on your tray Directions: 1. Core the apples using a paring knife, leaving the bottom intact. Carve the center out like a pumpkin, angling inward with the knife. Spoon out the center once the circle is cut with the knife. Circle what goes on your tray! 2. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Spoon the sugar mixture into the apples 3. Place a caramel inside each of the apples too 4. Set ½ T of butter on top of each apple. Place the apples in a deep casserole dish and cover loosely with plastic wrap or paper towel. 5. Microwave for 3-4 minutes or until tender. Let the apples sit for a couple of minutes before serving. (VERY hot!) 6.
