Campaign Set-Up Character Creation Guidelines: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Please limit your selection of race and class combinations to those found in the Player’s Handbook and in the World of Eos sourcebook. While alternate races and classes can sometimes be fun, the initial playing group should be easy to put together and to balance using the standard rules. Any alignment is fine. Remember the Golden Rule: Every character must have a reason to work together with the others and to go on adventures. No player may select a race with a level adjustment of +1 or higher. If it is absolutely necessary for your character concept to play a nonstandard race (tiefling, aasimar, undead, etc.), we have variant rules that build the progression of racial features into level advancement in a way that avoids level adjustments. Magical and Special/Superior equipment may be purchased as part of the creation process only- this gear represents things your character has acquired during his precampaign career and is not subject to the standard campaign limits. Feat and Skill selections should be drawn from the Player’s Handbook or the World of Eos sourcebook. Variant feats, skills, and class features must be approved with the DM on a case-by-case basis. Please take the time to think of an interesting and playable character concept. After the creation meeting, we will be voting on a score for each of the characters that are created and a bonus XP award will be given to each based on how well-thought out they are. Feel free to use the books from the Player Resources link I sent you already- the PHBII and “Hero Builder’s Guidebook” are fantastic resources to help create interesting and memorable characters. However, please remember that your background is just thatbackground. The campaign is about what you’re doing NOW, not about what you did twenty years ago. It isn’t necessary to craft an elaborate, multi-page backstory, only to have a good idea about what you want to do going forward. Class and Race Combinations Your group should contain at least one of each: Cleric (any non-dwarf) Arcane Spell-Caster (Wizard or Sorcerer) Rogue (or Bard) Human Someone who worships Magnus- see Eos Handbook A Captain/Team Leader (at least initially) The Knights of the Covenant Set deep in the forests of southern Dominion, the Lost Citadel is a carefully-guarded secret known only to the most high-ranking nobles in the Imperial Court. It is part training academy and part military unit, a place for those of exceptional ability to hone their talents and to learn the tricks of the adventurer’s trade. Those within its walls are trained in spellcasting, combat theory, weapons, tactics, traps, and any other of a diverse slate of skills by a cadre of instructors made up of the ranks of retired adventurers, paroled thieves, aging warriors, and so on, with the intent of developing a fighting force for use in special missions or on the battlefield. These agents are called Knights of the Covenant. Your character begins the adventure as an initiate of the Citadel, a neophyte with great potential but much to learn. As you work to create your PC, give time to thinking about how you came to the Academy, what your skills might be, and how you fit in with the other members of your company. Going forward, it is entirely possible that you will part ways with your instructors and strike out on your own, putting their teachings to good use as a solo adventurer. Or you might stay and become a guild member, advancing through the ranks to become a powerful Regent or even the Chancellor of the Citadel itself. Whatever you decide, the choices you make will certainly shape your character for the rest of his or her career. Other Stuff We’re trying to figure out a regular day to play- please come to the session with some idea of when you’ll be free so that we can choose a good day for this (every other Saturday, for example). Please bring any special materials, sourcebooks, background information, and so forth that you intend to use for your character with you to the creation meeting. We have dice, character sheets, pencils, and so forth, but feel free to bring your own if you want to. I look forward to meeting everyone and to getting a great campaign going. -Tony
