STAGE 1: PREPARE A PERSONAL PROFILE 3 hours dedicated to folio STAGE 2: PREPARE AN ARTWORK RESOURCE FILE (20 images) Theory: Students analyse artwork 1 using the ‘formal analytical framework’ and aspects of the ‘cultural analytical framework’. STAGE 3: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF SUBJECT MATTER 2 hours dedicated to folio (10 pages of sketching and development) 1 hour reserved for completion of essay Theory: Students utilise notes to draft and develop an essay length discussion of the artwork. STAGE 3: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF SUBJECT MATTER 3 hours dedicated to folio (10 pages exploring composition) Theory: Students analyse artwork 2 using the ‘cultural analytical framework’ Week 4 Practical: Exploring & trialling. STAGE 4: EXPLORATION OF MATERIALS / TECHNIQUE / FORMAL ELEMENTS / STYLE 2 hours dedicated to folio Theory: Analysis of artwork using the ‘cultural analytical framework’. Research and identify a specific medium of interest. (5 pages) 1 hour reserved for completion of essay Theory: Students utilise notes to draft and develop an essay length discussion of the artwork. Week 5 Practical: Exploring & trialling. STAGE 4: EXPLORATION OF MATERIALS / TECHNIQUE / FORMAL ELEMENTS / STYLE Theory: Comparison of artwork using the ‘formal analytical framework’. Students engage in an ongoing series of experimentation and exploration relevant to specified medium and selected concepts / imagery. (15 pages) 3 hours dedicated to folio. Theory: Students compare and contrast artwork 3&4 using the ‘formal analytical framework’ Week 6 STAGE 4: EXPLORATION OF MATERIALS / TECHNIQUE / 2 hours dedicated to Practical: Exploring & trialling. FORMAL ELEMENTS / STYLE Theory: Comparison of artwork using the ‘formal analytical framework’. Students look at additional media and explore how they may be incorporated or used in addition to chief medium. STAGE 5: REFINEMENT AND RESOLUTION OF IDEAS Students reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of trialled experiments. Students use this as a starting point to finalise key materials, techniques and formal qualities that will be used in the final artwork. At this stage additional trialling should also take place.
