Stock Market Game: Any student interested in participating in “The Stock Market Game”,
please see Mr. O’Neil ASAP.
Fundraiser @ Buffalo Wild Wings: After the varsity game @ 4:00 pm come join your wildcats
hockey team for a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings in Windsor, CT on Wednesday, February 8,
6:00 – 9:00 pm. Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 15% of the food sales. Fundraising tickets are
available in the main office.
Singing Valentines will be sold during lunch waves from Monday, Feb. 6 - Friday, Feb. 10 and
will be delivered on Valentine's Day. A Singing Valentine includes a song, a card and a lollipop
and costs $3. Add a carnation for another $1! You will need your student ID when you fill out
the form.
Teen Battle Chef Club will be meeting today from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
SENIORS: If you have not ordered your cap and gown Balfour will be here today and tomorrow
during all lunch waves. Please have payment in the form of cash or check made out to
Balfour. The cost is $22. Many of you have been measured but have not paid. This will be your
last chance to order – don’t miss out.
Job Shadow Day: All students involved in this year’s Job Shadow Day need to see Mr. O’Neil
ASAP.
Pasta Dinner: To benefit the senior class and South Church will be held on Saturday, February
25th from 5 – 7 pm at the South Church Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $8 ($4 for children 10 and
under) and will be sold during all lunch waves. Dinner will include pasta with a choice of sauce,
salad, bread and dessert. Please see Steph Dantos or Rachel Rising for more information or to
help volunteer.
Granby Hockey Night: Come cheer for your hockey team at Granby Hockey Night on
Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at 8:00pm as Varsity plays Tri-Town hockey on Granby’s home ice
(Enfield Twin Rinks, 1 Prior Rd. Enfield, CT). All Granby Hockey players will be recognized and
all Granby Students with ID can attend the game for FREE!!
True Colors Conference: Students interested in attending the True Colors Conference on
Friday, March 16th, please see Ms. Barnett in the guidance office as soon as possible. All
students are welcome. More information is available online at www.ourtruecolors.org.
Project Oceanology: Are you interested in the ocean? Applications are now being accepted to
participate in an overnight hands-on marine science field trip with Project Oceanology from April

Volunteers needed for Game Night/Ice Cream Social at Kelly Lane School on Friday, March
9. This is a great community service opportunity especially for Kelly Lane Alumni. For more
information and a registration form, please see Mrs. Caruso in the Guidance Office.
Special Olympics CT Winter Games: Volunteer Registration is now open for the Special
Olympics CT Winter Games. This is a great opportunity to complete some of your community
service hours while having fun helping others. Interested students can pick up a registration
form in the guidance office. The deadline to register is February 17.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: The Media Center is looking for volunteers for the 3rd Quarter, period

Japanese Exchange:
Desperate! Need 4 more host families for the Japanese exchange program from March
14th-March 27th. Please see Mrs. Rechenberg if you are interested.
Trip to Japan in June/July 2012:
To better meet the cost and time needs of interested students, the trip length has been
reduced to two weeks. The cost per students is approximately $2400. The trip is a two
week exchange program in which students reside with a host student in Chiba Japan.
Students will attend Chiba Meitaku High School, experience Japanese culture, and
explore Tokyo and Mt. Fuji. Applications are found in the digital backpack and students
that are interested should contact Mrs. Rechenberg immediately!

YEARBOOK - The yearbook is currently on sale. One third of them are already purchased so
please order yours soon so you won’t be disappointed at the end of May when they are all sold
out. You can bring a check payable to GMHS for $60 to Mr. Bik. in room 2213.
SENIORS - Students will be notified today if they received a spot.
JUNIOR/SENIOR PRIVILEGES - Privileges will begin today.
JUNIOR/SENIOR STRUCTURED SDA’S - Changes to structured SDA’s will be made on February
8, 2012. Students will be notified of their SDA changes on February 9, 2012, and new SDA’s will
begin on February 10, 2012.
