CALENDAR
October 1, 2012: Eligible photos may be taken beginning today
October 31, 2012: Final day for eligible photos to be taken

November 28, 2012: Artists whose work is selected for exhibition will be notified
via email and their names posted online
December 14, 2012: Opening reception for the Emerging Artist Show to include
the Norman Photo Month contest winners

TERMS & CONDITIONS
All entries must be submitted to MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council at 122
East Main Street, Norman, OK 73069 and must include a completed, signed copy of the submission form
and a 8x10 print of the work.
COMPETITION AWARDS
Winning entries will be announced throughout the MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman
Arts Council’s online presence and through local, regional, and national media. Winning entries will be
displayed in the Water Closet Gallery of MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts
Council from December 14, 2012 – January 19, 2013.
JUDGING
All entries will be reviewed throughout the competition duration. Images will be judged on originality,
technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. Judging and selection of winning
entries will be completed by representatives of the Norman Arts Council and the MAINSITE
Contemporary Art. Winning Entries will be announced on November 28, 2012. All decisions made by the
judges are final. MAINSITE Contemporary Art shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute
discretion. Winners will be selected on or about November 27, 2012 and notified by email or regular mail
on or about December 1, 2011. Winners’ names will be available online at www.normanarts.org and
www.mainsite-art.com on or about December 5, 2012.
YOUR RIGHTS
You will retain all rights to any photo you submit, including ownership if applicable. When your photo is
submitted in the competition, you grant MAINSITE Contemporary Art and the Norman Arts Council
a
nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to:
• Use, in connection with the current and any future Photo Contest, your name, city, state and
country of residence in MAINSITE Contemporary Art and Norman Arts Council promotions and
publications.
• Use, in connection with the current and any future Photo Contest, your image on partner and
third-party promotions and publications.
• Keep the files provided, and to archive the images in electronic forms, so that your photos can be
used in connection with the current and any future Photo Contest. As conditions of this
permission, MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council shall credit all
photographs with the caption “Person’s Name.”
YOUR PRIVACY

We respect your privacy. The Norman Arts Council will not sell, rent or exchange your e-mail address.
SALES COMMISSION AND INSURANCE
If your work is chosen for exhibition, MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council
retains 30% (thirty percent) of all sales. MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council
will make every reasonable effort to protect work while it is in our possession, however, we are not legally
responsible for it.
LEGAL CONDITIONS
This competition is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Certain restrictions may apply.
Entries void if the Norman Arts Council determines the entry to not be an original, or if the entries are
illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud
or theft.
Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; (b) that the decisions of the Judges are final
on all matters relating to the competition; and (c) if he/she wins, that MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home
of the Norman Arts Council may use each winner’s name, city, state, and photo in any publicity or
advertising relating to current or future competitions. All federal, state, and local taxes on prizes and sales
are the sole responsibility of the prizewinners.
MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council, in its sole discretion, reserves the right
not to award all prizes in the event that an insufficient number of eligible entries meeting the minimum
judging criteria are received. In the event that the selected winner(s) of any prize are/is ineligible or refuses
the prize, the prize will be forfeited and MAINSITE Contemporary Art, in its sole discretion, may choose
whether to award the prize to another entrant.
MAINSITE Contemporary Art reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its
immediate control.
THIRD PARTY RELEASES/LICENSES
Upon the Norman Arts Council’s request, each entrant must be prepared to provide a signed written
personal release from all persons who appear in the photograph submitted, authorizing us to reproduce,
distribute, display and create derivative works of the photograph entry in connection with and promotion of
Photo Contest, in any media now or hereafter.
In addition, upon the Norman Arts Council’s request, each entrant must be prepared to provide a signed
written license from the copyright owner of any sculpture, artwork or other copyrighted material that
appears in the photo entry, authorizing us to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of
the photo in connection with and promotions of the Downtown Norman Photo Month Contest. Failure to
provide such releases upon request may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By participating, entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless MAINSITE Contemporary Art:
Home of the Norman Arts Council and each of its partners, affiliates, agents and its employees, directors,
and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this
competition or any competition-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any
prize awarded hereunder.
MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council assumes no responsibility for any error,
omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure;
theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to competition entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries
or entry forms.
MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council is not responsible for any problems with
or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers,
computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail entry to be received on account of technical problems

or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, human errors of any kind, or any combination
thereof, including any injury or damage to entrants’ or any other persons’ computers related to or resulting
from participation, uploading or downloading of any materials related to this competition.
RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND CONTEST
If for any reason the competition is not capable of running as planned, due to infection by computer virus,
bugs, worms, Trojan horses, denial of service attacks, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud,
technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the
Norman Arts Council that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper
conduct of this competition, MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council reserve the
right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who tamper with the entry process, and/or to
cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the competition. If MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the
Norman Arts Council elects to cancel or terminate the competition, MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home
of the Norman Arts Council will not retain any rights in the submitted photographs and will return the entry
fees.
