GriffithsPoster Society for Genomics Policy and Population Health Conference: This one-day meeting will be based on the theme of "Cutting Edge Genomic Advances", presented by scientists and social researchers. The aim being to update participants with an excellent overview regarding present and future developments in these cutting edge technologies, generating lively debate and exploring what they can bring to The Society but acknowledging that there may be wider cultural implications. The conference will explore new developments in genomic technologies. This includes presentations on synthetic biology or ‘artificial life’ and its uses for medicine and healthcare. A talk will examine how the genome is used against pathogens to fight the old diseases that have often plagued so many across the globe, whilst another will describe stem cell transplant and how this new but rapidly advancing technology is bringing new treatments for previously untreatable disease. Through dissection of the technologies, scientists will describe what is achievable and realistic, with social scientists talking about the ethical, philosophical and legal implications of these innovatory technologies particularly in relation to synthetic biology. As part of the audience you will be drawn into discussions and lively debates with these leading scientists. This conference is being held on 30th November 10:00 – 16:00 at National Council for Voluntary Organisations, London, WC1H 9SN. Please see below further details and a programme. All devices paid for by the University have been registered to access this improved coverage. The handsets should have received a sim update, please ensure that the sim updates are read and then deleted. Then switch the phone off and remove the battery for a moment then switch back on again. This will ensure that the connection has gone through correctly and all the menus are updated on the handset. The system works by allowing users to 'roam' on the other network. Calls will be charged at exactly the same rate as they would be on your own network, so there's no need to worry about an expensive phone bill at the end of the month. The current network sharing agreement doesn't include 2.5G or 3G data. Further information on the network sharing agreement between T-Mobile and Orange can be found at: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/share/ https://kareena.orange.co.uk/share/ CMC Sports & Social Club: Purchasing has confirmed that it is suitable for MEDIC staff to use the CMC Sports & Social Club catering facilities for the provision of tea, coffee and morning buffets.
