Guidelines for completing a Training Model

TRAINING MODEL
Definition of Training Model: This is a traditional class model. One
(or more) instructor facilitates learning for a group of 10 or more.
Direct instruction and cooperative learning are typical instructional
strategies. Participants are expected to complete homework
assignments and apply learning to their professional practice. There
are typically two or more sessions.
Guidelines for completing a Training Model application:
1) It is the expectation of the Office of Professional Development that
instructors have completed either Leading Transformational
Professional Development or Training for Results. If you have not
taken one of these classes, contact the Office of Professional
Development (303-682-7376).
2) Read the Major Improvement Strategies from St. Vrain Valley
School District’s Unified Improvement Plan and the Department of
Learning Services goals listed on the following page. Also, obtain a
copy of your school goals if applicable. All professional development
classes must align with either district or school goals.
3) Complete the application and self-assess the design plan from page
6 using the rubric on page 4.
”Professional
Development
efforts should seek
to provide a sense
of curiosity,
exploration and
experimentation.”
Tom Guskey
4) Email the completed application to Jean Jennings at
jennings_jean@svvsd.org with “Training Model Application” in the
subject line. Applications must be received at least three weeks
prior to the first class session.
5) After review by the Office of Professional Development, you will
receive feedback regarding the status of your application and any
suggestions for revision.
6) When your application is accepted, you will receive further
instructions and resources.
