Weekly Class Newsletter Mrs. Campbell October 12, 2012 REMINDERS I am excited about the upcoming parent teacher conferences. I always look forward to discussing your child’s progress and learning with you. You should find your date and time attached to this newsletter. Students now have access to SumDog, Xtramath and IXL. These are great sites to have students practice math facts at home. Using these sites does allow both of us to track his/her progress through the practice that is done. Raz Kids is now available for home use. I sent home password information a couple of weeks ago. Please let me know if you need me to send this home once again. Raz Kids is a great online reading program that checks the student’s comprehension of the texts that are read. I will be placing another book order on October 17thif you missed out on the order this week. Our online code is HY3PP. Here is the chart from our work on Tuesday with Character Traits. Dear Room 107 Families, This week in reading we started with learning about character traits and will continue to work on this next week. We learned that character traits are adjectives and are about a person on the inside, as opposed to their physical characteristics. Students received a list of some of the character traits and we work together while reading some great books to look for those traits in. THE WEEK AHEAD- SPECIALS In math we will begin our data and probability study next week. This is one of my favorite math units, so I am excited to jump in! Data is so much fun since it is math that we do daily in life! Ideas to help at home would be to talk about the probability of certain things happening. Also discussing graphs and data that you see in daily life is helpful in the classroom. I will send more information home soon that will give you more ideas of what you can do at home to help your child do great with data. Thank you to everyone involved in PTA. This year our class will have the benefit of using materials funded with the PTA mini grant. We will soon have a nice set of magnetic dry erase boards, markers, erasers, as well as a class set of clipboards. I am thankful for the mini-grants and the support the Coleman PTA gives its staff and students! They make the job that I do easier! Thank you for your continued partnership, Mrs. Trisha Campbell ********************************************** Monday: PE Tuesday: Art Wednesday: Music Thursday: PE Friday: Art Up Coming Events/Dates October 24, 25- Parent Teacher Conferences, 2 Hour early out on both days October 26th- 3 hour early out following conferences November 12th- 2 hour early dismissal for Veteran’s Day SPECIAL NOTES Tower Building- The quietest 10 minutes of the school year!
