Position Description Under the guidance of the Associate Director, Marketing and Programs, the Assistant Director, Resource Centers is responsible for the supervision of Pride Center, Veterans Resource Center and University Student Union diversity-related efforts. This position supervises and provides direction to the Veterans Resource Center Coordinator, and Pride Center and LGBTQ Initiatives Coordinator. In addition, the Assistant Director, Resource Centers is responsible for the following: Provides oversight responsibility through the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of staff for the Veterans Resource Center Oversees the Veterans Resources Center, which provides resources, programs and services for student veterans and dependents, which includes peer mentoring, veterans orientation, awareness trainings, campus outreach and coordination with off-campus resources for veterans; Provides Administrative oversight for the Veterans Resource Center budget Oversee assessment efforts for the Veterans Resource Center, including measuring the impact the Center has on student veteran persistence and graduation Serve as a liaison, along with VRC Coordinator, to external stakeholders including the Chancellor’s Office, Department of Veterans Affairs, community organizations, other institutions of higher education, etc. Cultivates and facilities fundraising activities for the Veterans Resource Center, including writing grants and securing program sponsorships, to increase resources available for student programs and initiatives Provides oversight responsibility through the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of staff for the Pride Center Oversees the Pride Center, which provides resources, programs and services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) and ally students, including the Peer Mentor Program, Ally Trainings, and campus Outreach Provides Administrative oversight for the Pride Center budget Oversee assessment efforts for the Pride Center, including measuring the impact the Center has on LGBTQ student persistence and graduation Serve as a liaison, along with Pride Center Coordinator, to external stakeholders including the Chancellor’s Office, community organizations, other institutions of higher education, etc. Cultivates and facilities fundraising activities for the Pride Center, including writing grants and securing program sponsorships, to increase resources available for student programs and initiatives Coordinates and assesses the University Student Union’s Inclusive Language Campaign, which seeks to encourage and challenge behaviors around the language people choose which may be offensive, hurtful or ignorant through passive and active programs and marketing Coordinate diversity-related outreach and education efforts to the CSUN community. Serve as a liaison and representative for the USU in campus-wide diversity initiatives, which may include CSUN Human Resources trainings, academic/classroom linkages, etc. Support the “Sistahood Program” through training and advisement of the University Counseling Services Graduate Assistant and assisting in the evaluation of the program’s effectiveness and impact Assist with University Student Union’s diversity-related Initiatives, including ongoing training for staff and student employees Formulates and recommends University Student Union policies and procedures related to diversity and inclusion, as requested Serves as a member of the University’s Student Union’s Marketing and Programs Team for which responsibilities include the development and marketing of programs and services that impact students’ connection to campus and support students’ academic success Coordinates University-wide or University Student Union initiatives to explore opportunities for other “centers” which may serve niche communities Represents the Associate Director of Marketing and Programs at various meetings as assigned Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. Equivalent to three to five years in a college union or related field, managing programs and activities. A master’s degree in a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. Experience in grantwriting and securing sponsorships, and assessment is preferred.
