What does the data tell us? (Weakest question, how far off the target goal is 5th grade, weakest standard)
Text Structure was our weakest standard, with only 55% of our students meeting the proficiency target.
Brady- Based on the data, text structure is the weakest standard for my class.
Cohen- Based on the data, text structure is the weakest standard for my class.
Quintal- Based on the data, text structure was the weakest standard for my class.
Rodack- Based on the data, my students were weakest in text structure and vocabulary and proficient in theme.
Schaal- Based on the data, my students were weak with text structure and I plan to reteach this skill with a Text Structure Flip
Book. My students were stronger with vocabulary and theme because we spent more instructional time with these standards.
Solebello- Based on the data, my students were the weakest in text structure.
Tardif- Based on the data, my students were weakest in text structure.
What worked?
Our instruction on theme seemed to be very effective.
What didn’t work?
Our instruction on text structure was not effective.
What we will do?
We will review the standard on text structure to make sure that we have a true understanding of the standard. We will
then brainstorm ideas for activities and lessons and reteach the standard.

Question #7- LAFS.5.RL.3.9 (Compare and Contrast)

What does the data tell us? (Weakest question, how far off the target goal is 5th grade, weakest standard)
Our weakest standard was compare and contrast, with only 52% of our students meeting our target goal.
Brady- Based on the data, compare and contrast was the weakest standard area.
Cohen- Based on the data, compare and contrast was the weakest standard for my class.
Quintal- Based on the data, compare and contrast was the weakest standard for my class.
Rodack- Based on the data, my students are having difficulty in comparing and contrasting and scored below the target goal in
drawing inferences.
Schaal- Based on the data, my students were stronger with inference and vocabulary because we spent a lot of time on these
areas in reading groups and we just started working with compare and contrast skills, which had a lower percentage correct.
Solebello- Based on the data, my students were the weakest in compare and contrast.
Tardif- Based on the data, my students were the weakest in compare and contrast.
What worked?
Many of the fifth grade classes did well in vocabulary.
What didn’t work?
As our students are still quite weak in drawing inferences and comparing and contrasting, our instruction on those
standards was not truly effective.
What we will do?
We need to brainstorm activities and strategies that will help our students meet with proficiency on the aforementioned
standards.
