Everyone did not receive minutes. They were resent out and read through. Only correction was a date
for the SETSPAN conference. Motion to approve as amended by Chris. Second by Tina

District Events: Spring Conference March 21, Erlanger in Chattanooga
Medical Center in the Probasco Auditorium. The speakers will include: Dr. Nathan Schatzman, Presidents
Tim Glascock, PharmD., and Linda Peoples, PhD who will speak on Compassion Fatigue.
Last meeting: Jan. 8, 2015 @ Bluewater Grille in Chattanooga. Our speaker was Dr. Jason
Wamack speaking on Recalcitrant Treatment Options for Plantar Fasciitis. We also had a
representative from a local athletic store come and bring a variety of insoles and shoes. His name
was Joey Howe from Fast Break athletic store. He reviewed how to choose the proper shoe. It
was a very good meeting with a really positive response.
Treasury balance as of Thursday, January 8: $599.48.

January 15 for a reorganization meeting; no speaker,- transition meeting.
March 18 will meet at Party Fowl, 719, 8th Ave S., Nashville, at 6pm. Speaker Cathy Lee BSN, RN,
CPAN, CAPA, CCRN, RN-4. Topic is Emergency Airway Management. RSVP Jamye Gilliard @
jgilliard@bellsouth.net or Lorrie Richardson at chocitup45@gmail.com by March 1.
District Conference: May 16 at Vanderbilt-“Nurses, Nurses Are You OK & Are You Up to Date on
Your Perianesthesia Practice”. We still need a couple of speakers.

Clinical Excellence Award: Rebecca Bell nominated and approved by BOD to receive award. Tina will Carol
present to her during PANAW week and will submit to newsletter and website a picture and comments
about the award afterwards. TSPAN will also recognize her in August at TSPAN conference.
Newsletter-open to public on the website. Waiting on minutes to be approved. Shari said tried this in
2009 and there was a lot of controversy; proceed with caution. Chris informed Shari that this had been
discussed by the BOD in the past, and concluded it is best for TSPAN to open it up. (January minutes
were approved, and newsletter password protection was removed and made open to the public.)
Gold Leaf
Application
Newsletter and Website editor should be part of BOD meetings/conference calls, but are non-voting
members of the BOD. Carol has not heard back from Mary Ellen about next publication. Only 2 this
past year, last was in the summer.
Tina asks that you please read over questions you were sent regarding Gold Leaf, and also think about
what ideas you have for meeting these items listed on the application so you will be prepared for
discussion during the retreat.
New District presidents will receive a copy of the Gold Leaf at the retreat.

January 30, PM-February 1, AM at Cumberland Mountain Resort in Crossville, TN. Old Mill Cabin.
Cost of cabin: $57.00/night; covered by TSPAN Fri & Sat. Sleeps 16. We have a total of 5 sleeping
spots open for non BOD if others wish to come. Please let Tina know who is planning to ahead of time
and if any are male, because will need a count for agenda items and room assignments. If the number
exceeds 5 or any are not female we will discuss further accommodations for them if presented ahead of
time.
Motion by Chris for TSPAN to cover cost of cabin and luncheon as it has done in the past. Carol
seconded. None opposed.
*Outgoing BOD members, please bring your BOD Notebook to retreat.
*Everyone bring a snack for 20 (we need half “healthy” and half “not so healthy” if possible. Pass on
what you are bringing to Tina beforehand if possible).
Thursday, Jan. 29th All are welcome to come early; Chris and Tina will be setting up cabin for retreat.
Friday, Jan. 30th (Social Time/Get to Know Each Other): Dinner costs are your own expense, but
will have a group going out before play.
Play (Optional): Blue Moon Kitchen, at 7 pm. Cost is $21.00. Let Tina know greater than 1 week out if
you are coming, because tickets are on hold and will be charged.

PANAW week
ASPAN conference
Secretary open; Tina will speak with Kim Griffin who may be interested. (Tina spoke with Kim and she Carol
is agreeable to residing as the Secretary for 2015. We will confirm agreement of BOD at next meeting.)
Reminder that PANAW week is Feb 2-9. The theme this year is Perianesthesia Nurses, Dedicated

Professionals, Passionate Care. Discussion about how important perianesthesia nurses are to the patient
because they are the first person they see prior to surgery, and the first when they come out.
Discussion about the upcoming conference in San Antonio. According to their bylaws, the district
Carol
president may be sent and can determine an alternate if needed. TSPAN can’t say they have to send
someone though.
RA: Tina and Barbara planning to attend as the RA representatives. Need 2 alternates as well.
According to TSPAN bylaws that would be the Secretary and Treasurer if they are going to be at the
conference and able to be there that Sunday morning early for the RA. Jayme and Chris have asked off
work to go but don’t know yet. Patricia is planning on going.
Financial aid from ASPAN for RA. We should hear from them by Jan. 15th.
Amount of money to be given to districts to send members to National Conference will be discussed at
retreat during discussion of Proposed Annual budget.
State conference
August 21-22: Foglemen Center in Memphis. Location- needs final approval. Motion to vote by Chris
and Carol seconded. Voting of Board. All approved. None opposed.

Bair Paws/3M have been spoken to about paying for lunch and a speaker for retreat. Now is the time for
you to speak with any reps that you know about helping out with the conference in some way, whether it
be as a vendor, providing a speaker, or food for conference.

Next Meetings
Looking at the Pink Palace for a possible preconference on Friday; a walk at the zoo Saturday morning to
raise money for St. Jude. There will be a tour of St. Jude on Friday afternoon, and a luncheon for the
board members. Tina has applied for a certification review for that Sunday and also a couple of speakers
from ASPAN. Tina asked that Patricia and Barbara seek out some good pediatric speakers from that area
to come speak as well.
