Codorus State Park Marina Concession May-August 2012 Codorus State Park, Hanover, PA Fulfilled customers needs in either the marina concession or boat rentals. Used many forms such as liability contracts and boat rental agreements. Boat rentals included many tasks such as managing large groups, reservations, cash register, proper life vest fitting, demonstration of boating equipment, alerting customers of proper boat safety and park rules. Marina work included detailing boats, keeping the marina clean, restocking merchandise, locking up boats, and preparing boats for rental customers. Appalachian Outdoor School Camp Counselor May-August 2012 Hanover, PA For the camp, I helped run and lead 3 week-long day camps for children. We led team-building activities, recreational activities, and taught them about the environment. Outdoor School Counselor May 2012 Shaver's Creek Environmental Center and Penn State University Camp Blue Diamond, Petersburg, PA This was a 5-day and 4-night camp for fifth graders from a surrounding school district. My job was to help with teaching and participating in activities and lessons, be a good role model and take care of my cabin group for the week. Organized decorations by room, put labels on boxes and I wrote out a master list of what was in each room of the house. This job was performed without direct supervision and required independent thinking and organizational skills. The Farnsworth House and Inn Server May 2011- August 2011 Gettysburg, PA Server in the tavern, patio, and fine dining room. I waited on guests, serving them food and drinks. Worked with money and the computer. Did kitchen jobs to help prepare for the shift and after the shift for clean up. We taught them about opportunities in D.C.N.R and other environmental agencies. Housekeeper for Virginia Howard April-August 2009 New Oxford, PA Twice a month or more often if needed, I cleaned their home. This included vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down all surfaces, bathrooms, and kitchen appliances. Prepared their home to look presentable before they visited each weekend. For security reasons, I would frequently check in on their house. If needed, I would also water their plants. Gettysburg Wyndham Hotel, 1863 Restaurant Hostess April-August 2009 Gettysburg, PA Attended to guests, took them to their tables along with menus. Kept the hostess station and the area around the entrance clean. Answered the phone and took reservations and room service orders. When the restaurant got busy, I helped servers by picking up their drinks from the bar and serving their table. Made coffee and served take-out coffee to guests in the morning. For brunch I would help set up the buffet. Folded napkins and shined silverware. If the kitchen staff ever needed help I would aide them. Helped clean the dining room, reset tables and serve water to guests. Greeted and thanked guests for joining us for their meal. Assigned servers to tables. Related Experience: Facilitation at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center November 2012 Petersburg, PA Facilitated a 3-hour team-building program for 6th graders from a local school district. This took place at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. My team and I provided the group of 10 6th graders with a curriculum of team-building activities and debriefs. WOOFSTOCK State College, PA April 2012 Planned an event benefits Centre County PAWS animal shelter. This was a part of RPTM 356's Event Planning course. My team of 8 members and myself planned and implemented an event at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center benefitting Centre County PAWS animal shelter. On the day of the event, we successfully had over 100 people. We made lots of money in donations towards PAWS. Several PAWS shelter animals were noticed from our event and with anticipation found a new home. Our event had a DJ, a live band, several activity booths, live PAWS shelter dogs to meet, a kissing booth with a dog, food and beverages, raffle prizes, donation box, police dog demonstrations by the State College Police and demonstrations by local dog trainers. I provided help to a facilitator of day camp, I cleaned up 120 campground sites and I repainted the campground gates. Dear Hero Program at the Veterans Hospital 2011-2012 Altoona, PA I took three trips to the Veterans hospital with the Dear Hero Program, a program that supports Veterans and troops overseas. We visited with Veterans' in the hospital, played bingo, and made Christmas cards. Gray's Woods Elementary School Fun Fair 2011 Gray's Woods, PA This was done to get volunteer credits for a class. I aided in the set up of their annual school fair. This included raffle prize tables, food and beverages, the art auction tables, and the activity booths and games. Managed the Wet Sponge Toss station, allowing children to throw wet sponges at others' faces within cardboard cutouts. Earth Day Birthday April 2012 State College, PA This was another student-led event from our event planning class. Received extra credit for volunteering at their event and writing a paper on the experience. Managed and interacted with participants in the crab soccer station. Coordinated teams of participants to play crab soccer while also refereeing the field and joining in on the fun at times.
