Dear Potential SLO Classical Academy Parents –
We are excited you are applying to our school for the 2015-2016 school year. We are honored that you
would consider us and we would like to make the process for applying as clear as possible.
1. Early Registration process begins Monday, November 3, 2014, and ends Friday, January 30, 2015.
2. Re-enrollment for current families begins February 2, 2015 and ends February 27, 2015
3. Open Enrollment starts Monday, March 2, 2015 and continues until full.
Because SLO Classical Academy can accept only a limited number of new students, applications will be
processed in the order received (based on postmark date or drop off date), and assuming acceptance,
spots will also be filled based on this same order. Although applications will be accepted at any time, we
encourage interested families to apply early. Please take the following steps in your application process:
1. Familiarize yourself as much as possible with the school by spending time on our website, www.sloclassical.org.
We strongly encourage you to schedule a classroom observation and tour and encourage older students to
observe as well. Contact Amy Calloway at acalloway@sloclassical.org or 805.548.8700 to set this up.
2. Attend a mandatory Parent Preview Night (PPN). The dates for these meetings are: Monday,
November 3, 2014, Monday, February 9, 2015, and Wednesday, April 22, 2015, on our campus. We will
also have High School Open Houses on the November 3 and February 9 dates. Please RSVP on our
website by going to Admissions and then Parent Preview Nights.
3. Complete the Application for Enrollment Form and Questionnaire. Upper Middle School, High School,
and Preschool families are required to submit additional information. We will request this additional
information once we receive your initial application.
4. Gather the following work samples for each student and turn in with the Application and
Questionnaire: a) writing sample from current school year (1 st grade and above only); b) list of books
each student has read or had read to them during the last 3 months ; and c) any specialized
educational services evaluations or reports.
5. Mail or drop off forms and work samples, along with the non -refundable registration fee of $300 per
student to one of the addresses listed on the application.
6. Complete a Family Interview – we will contact you to schedule a family interview once you have
attended a PPN meeting. Students in preschool – 6 th grade do not need to attend. We recommend
students entering 7 th and 8 th grades attend. High School parents and students will each have their
own interview. You must hand in any reports related to special educational service before the family
interview.
7. You will be notified within a couple of weeks after your Family Interview if your student has been
accepted or not. Included in this letter, will be further instructions for completing the admissions
process if accepted
8. Every effort will be made to place families on their preferred track. However due to class size
limitations, current families have first priority, followed by early registration families, then open
enrollment families. Preschool students need to list whether you desire pre school or Jr. Kindergarten,
and half or full day. If there are no openings in the specific grade level requested, you will be placed
on a waiting list.
