Loving and prayerful greetings from Rev Fr B I Anthony Raj, the Parish Priest of Our Lady
of Health Church, Pattabiram, Chennai, Tamilnadu, INDIA.
I was ordained on 22nd April 2001 and serving the Lord in various ministries. After
ordination, I was associate pastor for two years in two different churches then seven years
as Archdiocesan youth director, and then I served three years as an associate pastor in
Hamilton diocese, Ontario, Canada. Now I am back to my native diocese and my
Archbishop appointed me as pastor of Our Lady of Health Church, Pattabiram, for which
I am approaching you for help.
Before the presentation of my proposal, I would like to put it in nutshell the history of
the parish named “Our Lady of Health Church” Pattabiram, Chennai – 600 055.
The land where the present Church is built had been given to us by the Ministry of Defense
for the worship and to fulfill the spiritual needs of the combatants of the Army, Air Force,
Defense civilians and their families in 1946. The Catholic population of that time was
below 50. But now we have more than 550 families.
Since the land belongs to the Ministry of Defense, we are not allowed to develop the
Church as we wish. Totally our hands are tied-up and there is no source and way for
development in the Church land. And we face lots of problems, even in spiritual activities.
Now the situation is even worse and creates tension and unpleasant atmosphere among
people. All these problems are happening for past 40 years.
Keeping all these in mind, we the parishioners of Pattabiram Military Siding started to
raise funds to build our own Church to Our Mother Mary outside of the Military Camp.
With God’s grace and through the intercession of Our Mother Mary, we were able to raise
funds locally and still we need more funds for the Construction of the New Church. Since
the total cost of the new Church is too high for us at this stage to collect by ourselves, we
are seeking the help of benefactors like you to support us.
If you could help us Rs.500 or Rs.1000 or more, it will be a big contribution to
our New Church Project.
