- Modification: Teacher will ask for one or two volunteers to act out movements.
Procedures:
1. Think, Pair, Share Activity

remember on guided notes handout (1 min.).
- In pairs, students will collaborate to create bigger list of “movements” (verbs) from
book (1 min.).

Phillips 2
3. When this has been completed, teacher will ask “What do many of these verbs have in
common?”
- Several of these verbs end in –AR.
4. Teacher will explain that all Spanish verbs ending in –AR have a common set of
endings/conjugations in the present tense. Teacher will write all verb endings on whiteboard
& instruct students to fill in the blanks on guided notes handout. Teacher will also explain
that to conjugate verbs in the present tense in Spanish, you simply “cut off” the –AR & add
the appropriate ending based on your subject.
Guided Practice:
5. Teacher will then ask a student volunteer to pick one –AR verb from the list that we can
conjugate together. Teacher will conjugate verb w/ student help, write answers on
whiteboard, & ask students to write example on back side of guided notes handout (Repeat
2x).
Shared Practice:
6. Quiz, Quiz, Trade Activity
Teacher will instruct students that we are now going to practice our –AR verb endings.
7. Teacher will instruct students on the “game”parameters.
- Each student will receive notecard w/ direct object pronoun on one side & appropriate
–AR verb ending on the other side.
- Students will circulate the room, pair up, & quiz each other.
- After “quiz” is complete, students will exchange notecards & circulate again to find a
new partner (3-4 mins.).
Independent Practice:
8. After Quiz, Quiz, Trade activity, students will be asked to return to desks.
9. Teacher will explain homework assignment.

on reverse of guided notes handout.
