Weekly Report PRCS’ Operations Room Main events monitored by PRCS’ Operation Room from 17 to 23 July 2011:Israeli Army Attacks During this week, the Operation Room recorded the death of one civilians: Mohammad Riziq Juneid (25 years old) as result of a tunnel destruction in Rafah area. It has also recorded 32 injuries in separate incidents and they are distributed as follows: 20 civilians from “Al Nabi Saleh” village/ Ramallah suffered gas asphyxiation and 2 civilians suffered burns, in addition, 7 civilian, 4 of which are children, were injured as a result of Israeli shelling in Beit Hanoun/ Gaza. Moreover 2 civilians were injured in Khan Younis/ Gaza as a result of shelling by Israeli wartime planes in Gaza, and one young man (14 years old) was injured by a bomb explosion of the Israeli occupation army, which resulted in several injuries from the metal fragments. In the last week, there have been many raids on Palestinian towns and villages. The Israeli occupation forces stormed the city of Qalqelia, and a cemetery during a funeral in Beit Ummar village/ Hebron. Besides, the Israeli occupation forces raided Qaryout village/ Nablus among heavy shooting of gun fires and Tear gas bombs. Moreover, the Israeli forces stormed Tallouza village/ Nablus, where 30 houses where raided in the village. in addition, the Israeli forces raided numerous houses in Al Basateen and Kharouba neighborhoods, as well as Al Samou’ town/ Hebron. On another level, the Israeli occupation forces raided the civilian houses at Iraq Bourin village/ Nablus, and declared it as a closed military area. In Gaza, On the other hand, Palestinian agricultural land has been sabotaged by Israeli occupation forces. The Israeli occupation forces plowed seven dunums of land in Al-Buq’a/Hebron where they have seized agricultural tools and confiscated networks of irrigation. And in Zaytoun district/Gaza, the Israeli occupation forces have plowed and swept the area through setting the land on fire. And in the Nasariya village, the Israeli occupation forces have plowed the land and defaced the water wells. Moreover, in Wadi Qana, the Israeli occupation forces declared the village a closed military area, and uprooted 450 olive trees. And in Al-Khader /Bethlehem, the Israeli forces have captured huge areas of agricultural land near the settlement ‘Afrat’. And in Gaza, the Israeli occupation forces launched raids on a plant east Gaza; however there have been no reports of injuries. Furthermore, the Israeli occupation forces continued arresting Palestinians throughout the Palestinian occupied territory. The Israeli occupation forces have arrested Muntaser Muhammad Za’loul and Ahmad Ali Hamamra from Hosan village/Bethlehem; in addition they have arrested two brothers, Najeeb and Lutfi Muhammad Abu Nasr from Jenin refugee camp. In Burqin/Jenin the Israeli occupation forces arrested Muhammad Abd al-Latif Qusrawi and Adnan Khaled Subh. However in Araba/Jenin the Israeli forces arrested one Palestinian and another in Tal village/Nablus. On another level, the Israeli occupation court in Beer-Sabe’ sentenced Khaled abu Amsha from Beit Hanoun/Gaza to life imprisonment. Continuous Settler Attacks The Operation Room has monitored several separate incidents linked to the settlers and their continuous attacks on Palestinians and their properties. One Palestinian, Musa Muhammad AlKhatib (18) from Jenin refugee camp, was injured as a result of settler attack from the settlement of ‘Homash’, where they have attacked a 4 passenger car, one of whom was alKhatib. In Nablus, a group of settlers burnt hundreds of dunums of wheat in the Aseera village/Nablus; however there has been no report of injuries. On another level, the settlers from the settlement “Burakha” and “Yitsahar” set fire to olive groves in the Iraq Burin village, and they proceeded to attack several civilian houses in the towns of Huwara and Burin. Car accidents The Operation Room recorded 24 Palestinians were injured in car accidents in West Bank Governorates, as follows: 11 injuries in Ramallah, 11 injuries in Hebron, one injury in Jenin and another in Nablus.
