Islamic University SUBJECT: They ask you for a legal opinion AUTHOR: Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz (The Late) Vice-President of the Islamic University NUMBER: 7 PAGE NUMBER: 183-186 YEAR OF PUBLISHING: MUHARRAM 1390 AH—MARCH 1970 Abstract THEY ASK YOU FOR A LEGAL OPINION His highness Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz answers the questions of the readers Vice-President of the Islamic University Does the messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) exist everywhere, did he know the unseen? Answer: It is Known from religion through necessity and lawful evidences that the messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) doesn't exist in every place but his body exists only in his grave in Medina and his soul exists besides the supreme companion in heaven as he (peace be upon him) said during his death: "O Allah, to the supreme companion" three times then he died. The scholars of Islam from the companions and their followers agreed unanimously on that peace be upon him was buried in the house of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) next to his Holy Mosque and his body is still there to date. As for his soul, the souls of other prophets and messengers, and the believers' souls are all in paradise but on degrees of pleasures according to what Allah has bestowed upon all people of science and belief, and patience to bear the hardships for the sake of the call to the truth. As to the unseen, no one but Allah knows it. The Prophet peace be upon him and others from ancestors know about the unseen only from what Allah has informed them through the Quran and the Sunnah i.e. paradise, hell, the day of judgment, and other things that is indicated by the Quran and the right Hadiths such as the news of Antichrist, the rising of the sun from the west, the emergence of an animal, and the descent of Jesus son of Mary in the last decade. This was proved by the words of God Almighty in Surat Al-Naml (The Ants): {Say (O Muhammad): None in the heavens and the earth knoweth the Unseen save Allah; and they know not when they will be raised (again).} and he said: {Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): I say not Islamic University unto you (that) I possess the treasures of Allah, nor that I have knowledge of the Unseen}(Al-Anaam) .He also said in Al-Araf: {Say: For myself I have no power to benefit, nor power to hurt, save that which Allah willeth. Had I knowledge of the Unseen, I should have abundance of wealth, and adversity would not touch me. I am but a warner, and a bearer of good tidings unto folk who believe}.
