ANALYSIS & ACTION
CONSIDERATIONS:
 English 11 scores reflect the Comprehensive English Regents examination.
STRENGTHS:
 We continue to believe that the pass rate on quarterly assessments in grade 9-10 Regents level courses indicates that the assessments are
designed in a manner that allows gaps to be revealed leading to the development of instructional plans that address student needs.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
 Algebra, given multiple State developed assessments (Integrated Algebra/Algebra I) and students in a two-year Algebra course.
 Living Environment, given a data point indicating the end of year goal may be difficult to achieve.
 Global History and Geography and Algebra 2/Trigonometry, given that upon retake of the Regents, little or no growth is evident.
ACTIONS:
 Use the Student Referral Team to analyze first semester intervention goals. When appropriate, add to/adjust the service.
 Continue to look for the evidence of our effort to reach our plan for excellence goals such as:
o Continued progress towards full implementation of the Common Core State Standards beginning with a subset of agreed upon
instructional practices and strategies that are adaptive, aligned to plans for groups of students with a variety of needs and learning
styles, and provide timely and appropriate instructional interventions and extensions for all students.
This now includes the work of Robin Uvegas who presented to the NHS staff recently.
 Analyze January Regents Examinations to develop remediation plans that will allow teachers to adjust second semester instruction.
 Continue the tradition of engaging freshman in second semester goal setting with incentives attached. This includes:

o Mr. Anderson (freshman counselor) setting goals with students.
o Teachers using positive talk, attempting to refocus our students on achieving the highest grade they can.
o At least a couple of times during the week, freshman team leaders remind the students in class that the first goal they are working
towards is an entire class goal, that is as a class they will meet 85% of your expectations (homework completion, staying after for
appointments, or any of your own expectations). If they meet our expectations by the 26 week mark, we give each person in that class a
piece of candy etc. etc.
Continue to promote access to school based supports to improve progress as measured by the thirty-week assessments i.e. After Hours
Learning Center, 2:30-3:00 pm, AIS, Learning Center, etc.
