Labouré College is a small, career-oriented, non-residential institution of higher education located in Milton,
Massachusetts, less than five miles from the center of Boston. With a focus on preparing adults for careers in
healthcare, Labouré offers degrees in Nursing, Radiation Technology, Health Information Technology, and Nutrition
and Food Management. It also offers certificates in Health Information Technology, including Medical Coding,
Neurodiagnostic Technology, including Intraoperative Neuromonitoring, and Dietetics. To support students in
these programs, the Division of General Education (Gen-Ed) provides courses from a broad array of disciplines,
including the Natural Sciences, Philosophy, Religion, Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, and the Social and
Behavioral Sciences. Courses offerings are reflective of the interdisciplinarity within the General Education
curriculum, offering students multiple opportunities for critical and creative thinking. To complement current
faculty members, the Division of General Education is seeking candidates for a full-time Assistant or Associate
Professor position, focused on the Social and/or Behavioral Sciences. The faculty member in this position will be
responsible for teaching in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Preference will be given to applicants
with experience teaching hybrid/online learning format. The College is also interested in candidates who can
contribute to course offerings that address the experiences of a diverse student body.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Teach undergraduate interdisciplinary hybrid and online courses in collaboration with
colleagues in the humanities, natural sciences, and social/behavioral sciences; • Articulate and apply evidencebased teaching and learning practices; • Deliver course material in a manner that promotes student engagement in
the learning process; • Manage undergraduate courses through prompt grading of assignments, substantial
feedback on student products, and timely submission of attendance and grades; • In collaboration with the Chair of
General Education, provide leadership to curriculum design and evaluation initiatives to meet student learning and
program goals; • Provide mentorship to adjunct faculty who teach General Education courses in the BSN program;
• Collaborate on a writing-across-the curriculum program; • Provide service on Divisional and College-wide
committees; and • Actively engage in scholarly activity as described in the Boyer Model.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Earned doctorate in a social science discipline by August 2016. Disciplines may
include History, Sociology, Social Policy, Psychology, Education, Economics, and/or closely related fields; •
Successful teaching experience at the Baccalaureate level or higher; • Excellence in teaching as demonstrated by
course evaluations and portfolio materials; • Effective verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills; •
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines, especially on writing-across-thecurriculum; and • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Position to begin January 11, 2016
Qualifications:
• Significant experience teaching online and hybrid courses; • Three or more years of successful teaching
experience at the Baccalaureate level or higher; • Demonstrated commitment to developing interdisciplinary
courses and programs; and • Experience with writing-across- the-curriculum initiatives.
