1) Responsibilities of the Tutor:
The Tutor shall be attentive and knowledgeable concerning the content and progress of the Student
in the tutored course.
2) Responsibilities of the Student:
The Student agrees to provide his or her Tutor with a copy of the course syllabus and a schedule of
exams and assignments.
The Student shall study, complete homework, and identify the problem areas needing clarification
before coming to tutoring sessions.
3) Responsibilities of Tutor and Student:
The Tutor and Student agree to meet two hours per week.

As a courtesy, the Tutor and Student shall contact each other at least _______ hours in advance if
either is unable to attend a session. A call can be made to the place of residence or work or a message
can be left in the SSS office. Arrangements to make up the missed session should be made at the time
of the telephone call.
The Tutor and Student agree to be prepared and be on time for all sessions.
The Tutor or Student shall wait 15 minutes before counting the session as being an unexcused absence
for the late party.
The Tutor and Student agree not to miss tutoring sessions. Missed appointments made up within the same
week will be counted as tutored sessions.
The Tutor and Student agree to limit any absences from tutoring and will provide advance notice to the
other if an absence is unavoidable. Every effort will be then made to make up the session.
The Tutor and Student understand that signing for more hours than those actually tutored is forgery and
will result in the immediate dismissal of both from the Program.
The Tutor and Student should be aware that tutoring takes place on campus.
The Tutor and Student agree that a violation of any part of this contract could result in the termination
of tutorial assistance.
The Tutor and Student agree to meet with the student’s Adviser for a Mid-Semester Conference.

INTENT TO IMPROVE COURSE GRADES:
STUDENT CONTRACT FOR SSS TUTORING

I understand that this is semester-long tutoring and that the SSS Program hires the tutors who are paid
through the Program. As long as I participate in the SSS program as an eligible student, the tutoring is
free of charge.

I agree to meet with the tutor for at least 2 hours per week. If I need to increase my number of hours, I
should contact my SSS Academic Adviser.


In order for the Program to commit continuous services to me, I can only miss a tutoring session if I
an emergency.

When I miss a tutorial session, the tutor informs my Academic Adviser who records it. When I miss a
session for the third time, the privilege of having a tutor will be withdrawn to enable another student in
the Program to benefit from tutoring.

To reinstate tutoring, I understand that I am required to submit a written statement to my Academic
Advisor explaining the circumstances and providing reasons to resume tutoring. Then I will meet the
Tutor and my Academic Adviser to determine whether tutoring is to be resumed.

I will continue the tutoring sessions until the end of the semester even though I improve my grade after
tutorial assistance.
