(1) what is idea, can you put a word problem in this framework of Ho and H1,
(2) alpha : type I error, Beta : type II error, can both be small at same time??
(3) 4 steps of cartoon guide or 7 steps of devore for a hypothesis test, whats your conclusion (ACCEPT or REJECT. 17 royal flushes ??)
(4) compute z-test or t-test as test statistic
(5) compute a p-value and use it to make a decision about a hypothesis
(6) for a specified alternative hypothesis, compute BETA the probability of a type II error
(7) find the sample size to have a specified alpha and beta
(8) apply hypothesis testing to proportions, using z for large samples and the binomial distribution for small samples
Hypothesis testing for two populations
(chapter 9 section 1 Devore)
1) Follow 7 steps of hypothesis trsting for the difference in means of two populations,
2) Where for the two populations either: Case I the standard deviations

are known,
3) Or case II: a large sample where the sample standard deviations are used instead of

4) Perform power calculations for a specified alternative similar to the one population case
5) Compute required sample size to achieve specified alpha and beta
