What is the Student Alumni Board?
A group of selected student leaders, chosen and led by the Office of Alumni Relations, to organize
special events for the student body – including the Alumni Speaker Series, Student Appreciation Events,
Grad Events, and Student Giving.
What is the Process of Selection for Student Alumni Board (SAB)?
Selections will be based upon the applicant's knowledge of the UNG Alumni Association, poise,
demeanor, leadership experience/potential and ability to represent the UNG Alumni Association with
excellence to the many diverse constituents of the University of North Georgia.
The SAB advisor and members of the board will conduct interviews and determine to whom an
invitation to join the Student Alumni Board shall be extended.
Does it cost money?
Nope. There is no cost to be on the SAB. The SAB budget comes from the UNG Foundation.
What is the time commitment?
Including but not limited to:






SAB Retreat (October 2, 1-3 p.m.) – Join fellow board members for teambuilding and calendar
planning!
SAB Weekly Officer Meetings (Wednesday, 12 p.m.), Regular Committee Meetings
Alumni Speaker Series (Monthly) – UNG Alumni Invited to Campus to speak to students on a
broad topic. SAB will select topic, reserve campus space, and market the event.
Student Appreciation Events (two times per year) – Host a tent or table on campus giving out
appreciation snack or item.
Graduation/Senior Events (two times per year) – Host an event just for graduating students
leading up to May / December graduations.
Professor Appreciation Events (one to two times per year) – Host a tent or table on campus
collecting notes to professors. SAB will distribute notes to professors.
What do I get out of it?
Interaction with UNG Alumni and the Young Alumni Board, satisfaction of connecting students to
alumni, resume builder, meeting new people, gaining new skills in public speaking, event planning, and
customer service!
How long is the term?
This first term will run October 2015 – April 2016. Future board terms will run May-April.
