Dear Parents/Carers,
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC LESSONS - SEPTEMBER 2015 (for Year 3 pupils)
There will be a number of places for children to start learning a musical instrument organised by Holy Family and Ealing Music Service in
September 2015. All of the lessons are held during the school day and the instruments on offer are:
Violin Flute
Parents must be willing to commit to lessons for one year as the cost depends on the numbers in each group and tutor hours needed. Parents often find that after the initial enthusiasm when starting to play an instrument, children begin to lose interest and this is when they need encouragement from parents to persevere over this hurdle. It is also important that children find the time to practise on a regular basis as this helps their progress and achievement.
The cost of lessons will be approximately £55.00 per term (payable in advance) and there are usually 30 half hour lessons in small groups during the year. In addition children will need to either hire or buy the instrument. After the initial year, if pupils wish to give up having instrumental lessons, the school needs half a term’s written notice in advance.
During the school year there maybe occasions to attend music assemblies or concerts and as children progress they can join the school orchestra or play at musical festivals organised by Ealing Music Service. There are also opportunities to be entered for music exams when they reach a certain level. If you wish your child to be considered for any of these instruments, please fill in the slip below and return to the office by
Monday 18 th May.
We will contact you again when we have confirmed with Ealing Music Service, the tutor hours needed and parents will be asked to pay for the first term’s lessons in advance on Parentpay (before the end of June 2015) in order to secure the place.
