Obituary: Guy Thomas Palardy
Dateline: Alburgh, Vermont
Guy Thomas Palardy, age 60, died unexpectedly Saturday,
March 14, 2015, in a tragic accident on his farm in Alburgh.
Born in Enosburgh, Vermont December 18, 1954 he was the
son of Jean Joachim “Joe” and Rejane (Gareau) Palardy. He
graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School and later
received his Associates degree in Agribusiness from the
Vermont Technical College. On November 6, 1976, he was
married to Susan Palardy (formerly Pelletier) who survives him.
Guy owned and operated his own dairy farm in Alburgh for
nearly 40 years. More recently he transitioned from dairy to crop
farming and was a specialist in field drainage systems. Active
in his community, Guy has and was currently serving as
Selectman on the Alburgh Select Board, and as a former
president of the Grand Isle County Farm Bureau. Guy also had a vested interest in alternative fuel
energy and Bioenergy systems.
In addition to his wife Susan of 39 years, Guy leaves his mother, Rejane Palardy of Venice, Quebec
Canada; his mother-in-law, Agnes Pelletier of Saint Albans; four children and their spouses, Marc
and wife Anna Palardy of Plattsburgh, New York, Nicole and husband Joseph Ducharme of
Alburgh, Danielle and husband The Reverend John H.D. Lucy of Swanton, and Jared and wife
Katherine Palardy of Essex; five sisters, Michelle Creller and husband Dean of Cocoa, Florida,
Martha Holden and husband Russell of Essex Junction, Sylvia Jensen of Isle LaMotte, Evelyn
Martin and husband Peter of Saint Albans, and Sarah Grillo and husband Gene of Campbell Hall,
New York; grandchildren, Sean Palardy, Brighton Ducharme, Addison Ducharme, Leighton Palardy
and baby Brandon Guy Ducharme due on April 29th; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gloria and
husband Brian Wood of Sheldon, Alan and wife Lisa Pelletier of Templeton, Massachusetts, and
Joseph and wife Kristi Pelletier of Highgate, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Guy was predeceased by his father Jean “Joe” Palardy in 2010, and father-in-law Joseph Pelletier
in 2004.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The
Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton, with Father Luke P.
Austin as celebrant. Father Marcel R. Rainville, SSE will be the homilist. Private Interment for
immediate family will follow in Saint Amadeus Cemetery. Reception to follow at The Nativity Parish
Center.
Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Friday from 3 to 5
p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Father Austin will lead a Vigil Service at 8:45p.m. and remain after for private
confessions.
