SOCIAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATE (1)
Are you interested in becoming a part of the Co-operative Students’ Association (CSA) for the upcoming
2015-2016 academic year? The Co-operative Students’ Association (CSA) is one of the leading student
organizations at the University of Toronto Scarborough. We are one of the most academically diverse
student groups in the university, representing over 1600 students from the Arts & Sciences Co-op and
Management Co-op programs. Overall, the Co-op Students’ Association works to equip students with the
necessary skill set and knowledge needed prior to the job search process as well as long-term career
planning. This position will require a commitment of approximately over 10 hours per semester.
Duties & Responsibilities
 Assimilating all information gathered from the student representatives in each program and
presenting any issues which are deserving of attention to the executive (address issues of Co-op
Social Science students in specific)
 Accomplishing allocated tasks in an efficient and responsible manner within given deadlines
 Coordinating with the program Vice President and Executives to accomplish allocated tasks
 Acting as the liaison between the CSA and their respective Co-op Program Co-coordinator and/or
Administrator by communicating information through periodic meetings throughout the year
 Communicating with the student body through classroom announcements and tabling at booths
 Coordinating, organizing, and executing social and informative events in Social
Sciences/Humanities
 Any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the executives in order to help achieve the
mission of CSA
 Taking the initiative to change or improve upon systems already in place
Basic Requirements of Qualifications
 You must be currently enrolled as a first year UTSC Student for the school year of 2015-2016
 Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate ideas effectively
 Enrolment in Humanities / Social Sciences Co-op Program is preferred
 Ability to work independently as well as in a team
 Strong oral communication/public speaking skills
 Previous experience in event planning is an asset
