Updates for Graduate Program Assistants:

1) Graduate Assistant Lunch at the TSC

The Teaching Support Centre is developing a guide for faculty and course instructors that will describe best practices for supporting and mentoring TAs. The goal of our new “Purple Guide” is to provide faculty members and departments with resources and strategies that make it easier to prepare TAs for their work with undergraduates, and to share strategies that departments across Western have used successfully to organize TA teams, prepare TAs for marking or proctoring and clarify expectations for TA roles, etc.

We are interested in hearing about the well tested as well as the innovative strategies that departments and course instructors are already using in TA supervision and preparation.

In your role as a Graduate Assistant, you interact extensively with both faculty and graduate students and have a unique perspective that would benefit faculty, grad students and other graduate assistants at Western. We would like to invite you to share your department's practices for working with TAs during an informal lunch discussion at the TSC. Details are listed below:

WHAT: A lunch for Graduate Assistants to discuss faculty/TA partnerships.

WHERE: Rm. 121, Teaching Support Centre, Weldon Library

WHEN: Thursday, March 25 th 12 noon – 1 pm

Please RSVP by Friday, March 19 th to Alicia Hitchcock tsc@uwo.ca

and indicate if you have any food allergies or special dietary needs we can accommodate during the event.
