Autumn 2015 Quarterly Report
Opportunities never cease to be limited on this campus. As I have spent the past 2
years becoming building the Black Student Union from scratch, I became the
President of that club. I looked to further make change for the student body, and I
ran for ASUWB President. I have had quite some experience with managing people
and gaining skills to be an effective leader, but also empowering others to be
effective leaders concurrently. As it has been an honor to truly serve as the primary
spokesperson for the student body, I truly appreciate the opportunities that have
surfaced.
I was able to give voice and be represented in the Chancellor’s Cabinet retreat over
the summer of 2015 to give students a voice. I was invited to the Vice Chancellor’s
retreat, which gave a lot of incite on the future of UWB, much like the Chancellor’s
Cabinet retreat, but in different topics of the University of Washington Bothell.
I have served on many different Committees:



Chancellor’s Leadership Committee
o The Chancellor had also restructured this leadership council to be
more inclusive of the campus representation, which has also included
myself. The Chancellor’s Leadership Council serves as the decision
making body for the Chancellor.
Provost Advisory Committee for Students (PACS)
o PACS, has been a committee designed for the students to speak
directly to the Provost of the UW. The Provost is essentially the Vice
President of the University and oversees all Vice Provosts, as well as
UWB and UWT’s Chancellors. We have spent quite sometime this
quarter on being informed on budgeting processes from different
departments, as well as solidifying voices across campuses. One thing
we worked on is a recommendation letter of the use of tuition dollars
for capital projects.
Student Facility Advisory Committee(SFAC)
o SFAC is the committee that primarily governs the Activities &
Recreation Center. I have sat on that committee over the summer, but


had delegated a member of my team, Business Operations, to sit on
that committee. This committee is responsible for any initiatives that
have taken place in the ARC.
UWB Initiatives Group(UW BIG)
o UW BIG is a group that is endorsed by the Chancellor to help fund new
initiatives throughout the year via the Chancellor’s Discretionary
Funds.
Space Utilization & Provision Group (SUPER-G)
o Super-G has been the other committee put together by our Chancellor
to facilitate space utilization. Space has been quite a precious
commodity on our campus. We have been proactive in assigning space
for the new and larger reflection space for students. This group is also
working on the Interim space for the Diversity Center that will open
Autumn 2016.
Enrollment Management Committee
o The work of the EMC, thus far has been to ensure that our growth will
maintain. Through this committee and conversations we have been
able to maintain the different admission events targeting
underrepresented individuals that will get into higher education.
Presidential Search Advisory Committee
o PSAC was a temporary committee that was designed to identify
potential candidates to become the next UW President.
Board of Regents
o This meeting is monthly with the BOR to help provide the Regents
updates with the UW Bothell. It is also a way for us to stay informed
with what the regents are planning.
Washington Student Association
o Student Association of student governments from the 4 year state
public institutions that helps to promote a united voice for legislation
in the state.
Tri Campus Collaboration
o Tri Campus ASUWs are uniting once a quarter to have bigger meetings
to create a unified voice. We have already had our first tri campus
student government meeting. We are trying to become united as UW
students to represent all of our constituencies, equitably. Each
quarter we plan to host it at 3 different campuses. Tacoma will host
the Winter 16. We will host it in Bothell in Spring 16.
Other opportunities include:
Speeches:
 Orientations
o There have been many orientations that I have been privileged to be a
part of. I have given many speeches to new students about getting


involved on campus. I also, told a little bio about myself, and how I got
involved.
Convocation
o I gave a speech to new students that had come to UW Bothell for the
first time, whether that are First Year Students or Transfer. It was the
largest speech that I have given since I begun as President.
ARC Grand Opening
o I had quite the opportunity to partner with Cascadia Student Body
President, Elise Saracino, on a collaborative speech between the both
of us simultaneously.
Other duties of mine have included, but are not limited to:






Managing a team of 11 members, and are currently working on achieving our
full capacity as we hire the other 3 Senator positions. Setting the agenda for
our weekly.
o Setting a weekly agenda for each Team meeting
o Time management & facilitation during our meetings via Robert’s
Rules
Managing my weekly meetings with each Director and the Vice President
Weekly meetings with my advisors, and a one on one with our primary
advisor
Monthly meetings with Chancellor
Coordinating meetings with other student employees of student engagement
Working with other entities inside & outside of the University of Washington
Bothell to see if there are ways to collaborate to best enhance the experience
of UW Bothell Students
I have felt that as a campus we are taking strides of growth in our student body
and in progress to be a equitable campus for all students whom choose to be a
UW Bothell student. With that, I am seeking to further steps for the Interim
Diversity Center, more support for childcare, and transparency of systems,
which include budgeting of parking and other auxiliary services to ensure our
students are more informed on how the system works. We will begin to have ore
information as soon as possible, as well as be more proactively in our campus
community.
