Lecturer in Cardiac Physiology
The School of Healthcare is seeking to appoint a motivated Lecturer in Cardiac Physiology to join
the cardiac physiology team within the School. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our
investment/development in cardiac physiology and contribute to the further development of cardiac
physiology student education and research. Key criteria are the potential/ability to carry out high
quality teaching and research and to contribute towards delivery of the School and Faculty goals in
translational research. You will have proven teaching capability and be able to contribute to the
delivery of research-led teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will liaise with
practitioners and practice educators within the local NHS as appropriate as well as staff within the
School and the wider University. You will work closely with staff across the Faculty to develop a
portfolio of high quality translational research projects, attracting external funding and
postgraduate research students where appropriate.
You will be a Cardiac Physiologist eligible for professional registration with at least two years post
qualifying experience. For appointment at Grade 8 you will have a PhD or Professional Doctorate
in a related discipline. For the Grade 7 position you will be nearing completion of a PhD or a
postgraduate degree through research at a comparable level or be willing to undertake a PhD as
part of a structured training programme). On successful completion of your PhD you will be eligible
to be appointed to a substantive post at Grade 8.
The post is available immediately and will be located in the School of Healthcare (2014 - 2015)
and in the School of Medicine (from 2015 onwards).

Job Description
Background
The School of Healthcare in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, has successfully delivered high
quality Cardiac Physiology education for over a decade. We are now seeking to appoint a
motivated Lecturer in Cardiac Physiology to join and contribute to the further development of
cardiac physiology student education and research within the School and Faculty. In 2015 Cardiac
Physiology will move to the School of Medicine.
Job Summary
In line with the University’s Learning and Teaching strategy you will contribute to a highly
developed portfolio of undergraduate and taught postgraduate teaching as well as undertaking a
defined programme of research. This will focus predominately on theory and practice modules
related to Cardiac Physiology as well as research in relevant areas. You will work across
disciplines, programmes and divisions to contribute to high quality delivery of learning & teaching,
research and impact activities within the School and Faculty.

University Teaching and Research Award
