Formal Dress Code
Formal Dance Dress Code
Formal dances include Prom and the Military Ball. Dress should be in good taste. Remember, you want
to be comfortable while dancing. The school administration reserves the right to refuse admittance to
the dance for inappropriate dress. Any questions about the appropriateness of clothing may be directed
to the appropriate grade level administrator. Guidelines include:
Boys
Tuxedo or suit
No jeans or baggy pants
Shirt and tie
Shirts must be worn at all times
Dress shoes
No tennis shoes
Girls
No low cut bodices/plunging necklines
No dresses/skirts or slits that are more than four inches above the knee
No dresses/tops with cut-out sides/midriffs
No bare midriffs, meaning the front of your body must be covered
No belly buttons showing
No plunging backs
No dresses/tops/skirts that lace all the way up the side
Dress shoes
If you are bringing a date from another school, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to make him/her aware
of our dress code policy.
Prom is a formal and special night for RSHS students. We hope to maintain the integrity and formality
of this night by implementing this simple dress code. There are hundreds of beautiful, tasteful, and
appropriate dresses available for prom. If you have questions concerning your dress, it is your
responsibility to seek prior approval from administration or Ms Holland.

Every student attending the prom must complete this form. A completed form must be turned in at the time of ticket
purchase. All fines must be cleared before purchasing a ticket.
To ensure that Prom is an evening that everyone enjoys, please obey the following rules and regulations. Please read

The Prom is a PSRC event; therefore, all PSRC policies,
procedures, and regulations apply. No student shall possess,
use, distribute, sell, possess with intent to distribute or sell,
be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, including any
unauthorized prescription drug, tobacco, and/or any other
controlled substance before, during, or after the Prom. Such
activities are strictly prohibited by state law as well as school
policy and procedure. Anyone found in violation of this
policy will be referred to the authorities and referred for
school discipline on the first day of return to the school.
Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to monitor and
supervise all activities before and after the Prom.
Improper behavior will result in automatic expulsion from
the Prom and referral for school disciplinary action.
The school reserves the right to withhold access to the Prom
to anyone currently suspended from school or who has been
placed on suspension on the day of the Prom. Refunds may
not be made to these students.
Students owing fines to Red Springs High School will not be
allowed to purchase a ticket.
All bags and personal belongings are subject to search.
All attendees are required to present a picture ID to the staff
members at the check-in table upon their arrival to the Prom.
The administration reserves the right to deny admittance to
the Prom at their discretion.
The Red Springs student and his/her date must enter the
dance at the same time. Individuals who are not enrolled
at Red Springs will not be admitted to the Prom alone. If
the Red Springs “sponsor” is not present at the check-in

table at the time of the arrival of the date, the date may
be required to leave the Prom and premises.
Once a student or the student’s date exits the Prom, there will
be no re-entry. NO EXCEPTION. When attendees exit the
Prom, they must leave the premises and not return. Loitering
is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action, including
trespassing charges.
The dress code is formal and will be enforced. The PSRC
dress code will be enforced. Students who do not follow the
dress code will not be admitted, even with a ticket. Refunds
will not be made.
Prom tickets are not transferable. Every ticket presented at
the check-in table on the night of the Prom must match the
school’s ticket roster in terms of ticket number and name of
ticket holder. Any discrepancies will lead to the individuals
associated with this issue not being admitted to the Prom.
Styles of dancing that the administrators determine to be
inappropriate for a school dance setting will not be permitted.
The style of dancing referred to includes dancing in a manner
that strongly suggests sexual activity (No bumping/grinding,
no lap dances, no students lying on the floor, no pinning up
against the wall).
Public display of affection is not acceptable.
Any students bringing a date who is not enrolled at Red
Springs must complete the date permission section below.
Dates not properly registered will be denied admission.
All guests must be under 21 to attend the prom.

NON-Red Springs students complete this section: Non-Red Springs dates must have the bottom section of this form completed and
signed by a current school administrator, professor/dean, employer or commanding officer along with a copy of a picture ID (School ID,
Drivers License or State ID Card, etc.). The form must be submitted to the Red Springs “sponsor” at the time of ticket purchase. The ID
will also need to be presented the night of the Prom. Faxed IDs will not be accepted. Any date 21 or older is not permitted.
