Train/Tube: Northwick Park (metropolitan line)
Bus: 186, 223, H9, H10 and H14 enter the grounds of the hospital, and
route 182 stops a short distance away on Watford Road. Bus routes 114
and 183 stop on Kenton Road, about a 10 minute walk from the hospital.
Car/Parking: Car parking available.
Living/Accommodation/Eating Hospital Accommodation: Hospital accommodation on site (privately run
by London Strategic Housing. Contact the facilities department on 020 8869
5175 for further details.
Local Area: Harrow-on-the-Hill a short walk away (one stop on the tube).
Sainsbury’s nearby (10 minute walk).
On-site: Costa coffee, St. Marks café (reasonably priced but get there
before 1pm else the sandwiches will have gone!), WH Smith and restaurant
on site (not 24 hours).

SHOs: 0 FY1s: 0
On the Rota, you normally do about three clinics a week (normally in
the morning). There is also a child protection rota for the registrars
as well as the consultants. The rest of the time is allocated for audit/
project work, clinic liaison and developmental assessments.

Neurodisability/ neurodevelopmental clinics
Special Educational needs (SEN) clinic (once per week)
Children Looked After (CLA) clinic (once a week)
Child protection medical assessments (under consultant
supervision). Acute cases (incident within a week) from Brent and
Harrow and chronic cases from Harrow are seen at Northwick Park
Clinic Liaison is time allocated to dictate letters etc. During the time
allocated for audit you can also attend different assessments by
paediatric therapists although you are expected to have met the
patient beforehand.

Fortnightly Safeguarding interest group meeting (Wednesday am)
Fortnightly child development meeting (Wednesday am)
Weekly paediatric grand round (opportunity to present)
Monthly ASD pathway meetings
3 monthly North London ADHD network meetings
Monthly Brent and Harrow combined teaching afternoon- usually
multidisciplinary
Opportunity to visit schools (primary and secondary) and speak to students
about a health related topic
Opportunity to visit specialist schools (for children with learning difficulties)
SpR teaching (every Wednesday 1300-1400) jointly with acute team
3rd Monday of the month 14.00 – 16.00: Monthly study afternoon.
o Joint meeting with Harrow Community Team. Co-ordinated via the
Consultants. Trainees may be involved e.g. case presentations / literature
searches
Paediatric Grand Round (every Tuesday 1300-1400)
Journal Club (Friday) jointly with acute team
3rd Wednesday of the month is GOSH neurodisability teaching from 15.00-17.00.
Please liaise with consultants for the venue, as it usually changes.
There is also the opportunity to attend simulation training (organised by acute team)
Discuss the patients you are due to see in clinic with the named consultant.
Child Protection is consultant led so keep the named consultant informed
of what you have done for a case
Ensure you have the relevant forms before going to clinic as the team is
not based near the paediatric outpatients
When a child known to one of the community consultants is admitted to the
ward, inform the consultant of the admission
Check the post room for your post
Have a list of useful contacts
Get involved in a project/ audit early
Speak to the child protection office staff for a wealth of information on child
protection, CLA and SEN reports
