Province V Collaborative Grants Frequently Asked Questions WHO CAN APPLY FOR A GRANT? Collaborative is the key word. Dioceses working on a joint project, agencies or committees which team up to take on a mission, several groups working to support a common outreach project – these are examples of collaborative grants which have been awarded. HOW MUCH MONEY IS AVAILABLE? The Executive Board has earmarked $20,000 for collaborative grants. It has not been parceled out (i.e. five $4,000 grants) in order that we can best consider all the appropriate requests we receive. On average the grant requests we receive are between $3,000 and $5,000 though we have funded grants smaller and larger. WHAT CAN THIS GRANT FUND? Did we mention that this is a collaborative grant? It’s expected that this is a project which involves more than one entity or institution. Our grants have funded collaborative learning events, re-building projects, and congregational development work. While we are open to all requests, the cover letter indicates particular attention is given to projects which address The Five Marks of Mission and / or the particular interests of the year supporting diocesan initiatives within the province. ARE THESE GRANTS ONLY FOR WORK DONE WITHIN THE PROVINCE? While at least one applicant must be within the province, the collaboration partner and location of the work may be outside Province V. WHAT’S INVOLVED IN APPLYING FOR A GRANT? The grant application package includes 4 questions which need to be answered on no more than two pages, it requests the budget for the current year and material describing your organization and requires letters of support from the bishop of one diocese and a staff member of a second diocese involved in the project – did we mention these are collaborative grants?
