Province V – The Province of the Midwest October 20, 2014 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, The Province V Executive Board continues to be inspired and encouraged by the many wonderful ministries happening in our provincial dioceses! The primary purpose of Province V is to support relationships which facilitate dioceses’ ability to collaborate together in ministry, whether it is in common projects or through the sharing of resources, assets, and experience. Collaborative ministry is already happening throughout our Province, which is exciting and offers us new opportunities to do ministry together. In an effort to build and support these joint ventures within our province, the Province V Executive Board annually offers grants to support ministry initiatives that involve local diocesan ministries working together in a single common cause or mutually supporting one another in ways that strengthen their ministry within their own diocese. Specifically, Province V will award grants for collaborative ministries involving two or more dioceses (at least one of which is in Province V). Grant requests must demonstrate how they address at least one of the five Marks of Mission (drafted by the Anglican Consultative Council, 1990): To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom To teach, baptize, and nurture new believers To respond to human need by loving service To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth While other ministry areas may be considered, the Executive Board is particularly interested in funding collaborative ministries/initiatives in the following areas: Congregational development, where it involves re-developing existing congregations Anti-racism, which is beyond basic training and engages institutional barriers Latino ministries Post-incarceration ministries, especially those focused on ministry with the children of the incarcerated Emerging faith communities As a part of the process, applicants must submit a letter of endorsement from at least one bishop from a diocese within Province V AND a second letter from a bishop or staff person from a collaborating diocese. Please see the Grant Application included with this letter, for more information about the granting process. Completed applications must be received via email by January 16, 2015. Also, if you have any questions regarding the grant process and/or the grant application, please visit the Province V website at www.provincev.com or contact Jo Gantzer, the Province V Coordinator, at jogantzer@gmail.com.
