Our girls tennis posted yet another Homecoming Victory last night taking down the BRF Tigers
7-0..... The entire team took home a victory for supper.... It took Kirstin Grzenia 3 matches but she held
on to a 6-1 4-6 6-1match. Senior Ellie Luke looked stellar on the courts, as did Morgan Makala and
Senior Courtney Leak....The Teske Twins took the Tigers to task and won decisively
6-love 6-love! ...Cali Ogurek and Ally Kidd left everything on the courtr as they soared to a golden
ealge victory.....Along with that Homecoming victory were our vastly improved JV team winning 7-2... The
tennis team will host Wisc Rapids Assumption on Thursday Evening and it will be our Senior NIght as we
celebrate our Seniors as their tennis career at MHS is winding down to its finale...... Please... be
motivated enough to stop at "our house" this Homecoming Week and cheer on the team! The weather
cannot be any better for many excellent games of Tennis!!!!
Senior pictures should be turned in to Ms. Hansen by Nov. 30th to be added to the yearbook.
Also, Seniors need to bring in baby pics to be added to the yearbook as well.
The FFA Fun night is tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 4:00 -6:00pm at Red Ridge Ranch. for $2.00
you get a trail ride, burgers, hot dogs and refreshments with your FFA dues paid. See you there.

Book Club Members - "The Kite Runner" Written by Khaled Hosseini, a #1 New York Times Bestseller -Entertainment weekly described the book as "A moving portrait of modern Afghanistan" - it can be
checked out in the library, from Ms. Tambornino, or Ms. Casey ---- First meeting will be October
1st during Pride Time.
Global Scholar Candidates - Please see Ms. Casey Room A214 - to sign up to work on the "Let's Go Fly
a Kite" Activities - You can do the work during your lunch, pride time, before school, or after school.
New Drivers Ed class starts this Sunday at new Lisbon high school. Cost is $360. Get groups of 3 too
sign up together and save $25 per person. Class is taught by Brad Bever of Superior Drivers LLC.

Attention: Any student who likes to write, please consider writing for the Eagle
Echo, a Mauston High School page that appears in the Star Times once a
month. Any interested student see Mr. Dahlke soon. The Eagle Echo writing
staff is open to anyone grade 9 through 12.
$1000 Kohl Excellence Scholarship—Seniors will be evaluated on their leadership, citizenship,
school and community involvement and academic achievement. Applications are available from Mrs.
Mead and are due by Wed. October 22.
Applications for the Juneau County Peace Scholarship are available in the counseling office.—Seniors
design and execute a peacemaking project in their community. Awards range from $200-$1000 per
project. The interest sheet must be filed by Friday, November 7, but students have until April to
complete their project. The informational meeting is Tuesday, November 11.
P.S.A.T. Testing will be held at Mauston High School on Wednesday, October 15 for any sophomores or
juniors who are four-year college bound, interested in getting feedback on critical academic skills, and
have good test taking skills. Cost is $14, payable to MHS. See your counselor or Mrs. Mead in the
counseling office for further information.
Juniors: The Counseling Office will be taking a bus of juniors to the Wisconsin Education Fair in
LaCrosse on Thursday, October 2. Juniors are invited to listen to career speakers and then attend the
education fair where over 100 colleges will be represented. Trip is limited to forty juniors. Field trip
forms are available from Mrs. Mead and are due by Tuesday, September 30, along with the $3.00
transportation fee.
Attention Seniors: There are 2 fund raising opportunities coming up. The dates are Sept 23rd, and Sept
25th at the High School concession stand during the volleyball games on those dates. Seniors are
needed from 5:30 pm until at least 8:30 pm or when the count is done. You may work the entire shift, or
just half of it. Interested? See Mrs. Whyte to sign up. Three seniors are needed each night. If no seniors
sign up, the proceeds will go to Toys for Joy.
Are you interested in traveling to the sunny island of Puerto Rico in June 2015? Have you or will you have
completed at least two levels of Spanish 2 by the end of second semester? Excelente. Then you are
eligible to enroll in the trip. For more information about traveling to Puerto Rico, pick up an informational
handout from the display case across from the LMC. Enrollment date has been extended to Oct. 15
