Zentangled Found Object

Zentangled Found Object
1. Choose an object that would be interesting to be zentangled. Think
about form vs. function.
2. If your object is glass, I have glass paint.
3. If your object is fabric, a Sharpie marker
should work on it, but there are also fabric
markers available in the supply cupboard (they
must say fabric markers).
4. If your object is plastic, we may have to
gesso it (prime it). Test some Sharpie on it to
see if it stays on without wiping off.
5. If your object is multi-colored, you want it to be
one single color, so you’ll probably want to gesso it.
6. As you start to zentangle, think about how your
object will change. Use the shape and contours of
your object to their advantage as you draw your string
and fill it with patterns.
7. The last step of a zentangle is to add value. Think
about adding colored value and using stippling as your
shading technique (especially if you are zentangling a
glass object that a pencil cannot be used on).
8. We can spray objects with fixative spray when
finished to ensure the zentangles stay on.

Patterns are varied
and unique; used
elements and
principles to create a
unified artwork.
Patterns used fit
contour of the object
itself, as well as the
negative space of
the string they are
used in.
Uses excellent and
precise contrast in
lines and patterns;
thick, medium and
thin lines. Uses the
full value scale (8
gradients) and
shading techniques
to add shading.
