I.
Secretary's Report: Ed Mudra
 Introduction of Executive Committee made: Ed Mudra as President, Debbie Hayes as Vice
President, Diane Enot as Treasurer.
 First order of business to nominate Joy Zaehringer serve as PTO Secretary for the remainder of open
term for 2015/16 School Year (Ed Mudra nominates, Mr. Zursin seconds, and Dave Mertogul thirds,
no other nominations, vote taken and no nays).
 Debbie Hayes taken full-time job teaching at another District 300 school and is stepping down as
PTO Vice President but will continue serving her committee commitments, unless the commitment
requires her physical presence, in which case, someone else will need to handle that portion.
II.
Treasurer’s Report: Ed Mudra/Diane Enot
 The Preliminary Budget and Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs 2015/2016 were presented in detail,
vote taken (Mr. Zursin nominates and Debbie Hayes seconds vote with no nays) and approved.
Nothing allocated as of yet until fundraiser ends and funds deposited. (See attached copies for full
preliminary budget and committee chairs. Below is additional information to note regarding various
line items.)
 Classroom start up - advance $75 per teacher at the grade levels and $50 Leap and Special Needs
teachers to get classroom going (money is taken against their year allotment).
 $125 Dare certificates, medals and cakes with another $600 for t-shirts.
 Dinner night outs will be at Culver's with first night 9/30/15, every six months (no other DNO's at
this point for year).
 Fall fundraiser will be similar to last year's raffle.
 Family Fun Night, keeping as place marker to see if we have the funds after the fundraiser.
 Field Days - Mr. Zursin to check with the Ms. Hall and Bridge Church if PTO funds are needed for
any part of that day.
 Get Smart with Art - PTO has a lot of art supplies left over and no volunteers to continue the
program. Consider donating to school. Mrs. Biallas and Joy Zaehringer will coordinate transition.
Mr. Zursin to check with District if a form is needed because it is a large quantity of art supplies to
be donated.
 Health World is no longer in business, not sure if they have replacement option. $450 was previous
year's charge for Health World.
 Family welcome packets with t-shirts for kindergarten and new to Eastview students will be ordered
and distributed soon.
 Newsletter - Joy Zaehringer and PTO Executive Members will work out the logistics of getting the
information to Michelle McMahon for the quarterly (not monthly anymore) newsletter.
 School Supplies Packs - Looking for someone new to chair because Debbie Hayes was chairing that.
 PTO Appreciation Week - new chair needed because Debbie Hayes was chairing.


Review of preliminary budget for fundraisers. Target is eliminating the Red Card donations after
this year (probably have one more check coming from that and that's it).
Mr. Zursin motions to approve the preliminary budget, Debbie Hayes seconds it, vote taken, no nays,
preliminary budget approved.
III.
President's Report: Ed Mudra
 All committees/activities for school year reviewed.
IV.
Principal's Report: Mr. Zursin
 Thanks everyone for their efforts.
 Explains concept of I-Ready. The student logs into a computer to take test (AIMS - three times a
year testing gone). Main piece is three testing dates for diagnostic tools. Students may also use at
home but nothing really structured for home yet. I-Ready is really about spending the time of getting
the answer right.
 Discussion on how to get new parents involved in the PTO.
 Relays his discussion with Todd from the Bridge Church - some sort of way that disadvantaged, low
income families could apply to receive a free Chrome Books so students could get on the internet at
home. Many apartment complexes have internet and many hot spots available around town for free
internet use. Thought is that maybe the PTO might possibly want to chip in to this program if it
becomes reality.
V.
Open For Discussion: Ed Mudra
 Mr. Zursin elaborates on new Eastview hires: Mrs. Milewski moved from special education
kindergarten to regular education kindergarten, Don Wesseman took over special education
kindergarten, multi-needs teacher - Christine Shubert, new vision teacher, and new speech teacher Emily Price. Mrs. Schramuk and Mr. Boberg are retiring at the end of this school year. The teachers are
ironing out their contract and Mr. Zursin doesn't know what the next school year will look like.
Mr. Peterson is now teaching 4th grade.
 Market Day stopped their program. You can still purchase from GFS stores and the school will be
credited back to the school.
