Water Article written by: Hayden D’Erricoļ The Michelangelo Times School Newspaper 2015 Water here, water there, water, water everywhere! We use water every day. We swim, we take a shower, we drink water and we wash dishes with water. Something that uses a huge amount of water is flushing a toilet. Do you know how many gallons of water it takes to flush a toilet? It takes 7 gallons of water per flush! Water is important but we are running out of water by polluting it and wasting it. We have to stop wasting and polluting our fresh water supply. Our future depends on it. If we are not careful, the world might not have any clean water left to drink and we as humans will dehydrate to death. What are the solutions? We can change our ways and live longer, stronger and healthier lives. We can cut down on flushing the toilet if we throw single pieces of toilet paper or facial tissues in the trash rather than in the toilet. Another solution to stop wasting water is to take shorter showers. What are the ways we can stop polluting water? One way we can stop polluting the water is by handing bigger fines to companies that throw garbage into the water. Polluting the water does not only make are lives harder to live but also the lives of animals, like fish for example. We eat fish a lot in our lives but soon fish might become extinct because we pollute the waters. Fish live in these waters and will eat the trash or get cut or swallow those cans, or whatever it is that is thrown in the ocean. These items can kill the fish and other animals too. This is why we must stop polluting and wasting water.
