Press Release ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group Steep-incline and vertical belts by ContiTech bring innovative ideas to the Russian market Conveyor belt systems transport bulk materials up inclines of as much as 90 degrees MAXOFLEX®, FLEXOWELL® and POCKETLIFT® are three flexible specialist solutions Low-noise, eco-friendly and efficient to run Novokuznetsk, June 2014. High up or deep down below ground: ContiTech offers a diverse range of specialist solutions for steep-incline and vertical transportation in a variety of businesses. Extensive capacity and unlimited lift heights are no problem for the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group, and nor are multiple changes between horizontal and vertical operations, which can all be negotiated by a single belt. Moreover, system solutions by ContiTech are cheaper to invest in and operate than conventional transport solutions using containers and skips. MAXOFLEX® and FLEXOWELL® transport bulk materials on inclines of up to 90 degrees. They are available in a variety of types, depending on their intended use. FLEXOWELL®, for example, handles up to 6,000 tonnes of bulk materials per hour. It is low-noise and eco-friendly to operate, and a single belt is capable of negotiating routes with both and horizontal and vertical sections. “FLEXOWELL® customers benefit from short installation times and a belt that’s energy-efficient, low-noise and eco-friendly to run,” points out Dr Michael Hofmann, Head of Engineered Products with the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group. The system also requires fewer transfer points and has a long service life. The advantages are obvious: machine operators and producers using FLEXOWELL® benefit from lower investments and running costs than those associated with using containers and skips to transport bulk materials. “The belt’s energy efficiency and long service life in particular mean major savings for operating companies. And the fact that FLEXOWELL® needs fewer transfer points saves money too,” Hofmann explains. 1/4 Your contact: Mario Töpfer, +49 511 938-1304 -2At present, FLEXOWELL® technology is in use in more than 60,000 systems around the world, in quarries, mines and coalmines, in the chemicals and steel industries and tunnel construction. And not without good reason – because FLEXOWELL® offers lift heights of up to 300 metres on the vertical with belt widths of up to 2.4 metres and tensile strength of up to 8,600 Newton metres per millimetre. Meanwhile, the MAXOFLEX® basic belt offers outstanding transverse stability, good longitudinal flexibility and individually adjustable cleat spacing. Unlimited lift heights in uninterrupted conveying As an enhanced version of the FLEXOWELL® technology, POCKETLIFT® is best described as space-saving, eco-friendly and efficient. “POCKETLIFT® opens up entirely new possibilities in quarrying as well as surface and underground mining,” explains Benedikt Nothelle, Head of Sales & Application Engineering Special Bulk Conveying with the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group. Able to handle up to 4,000 m³/h of bulk materials, POCKETLIFT® can cope with unlimited heights through modular arrangement of the conveyors. This makes it the most effective system available for the uninterrupted transportation of bulk materials. Its compact construction makes POCKETLIFT® especially interesting for the mining industry. Being far more compact than conventional systems, it is ideal for shaft operations. “That’s a major advantage for underground mining,” Nothelle explains. In addition POCKETLIFT® saves energy, which in turn reduces operating costs. Conventional container and skip transportation causes load peaks in the energy supply by accelerating materials to high speeds. POCKETLIFT®, on the other hand, requires less energy because it moves bulk in on continuous stream. This keeps transportation costs per tonne of materials far below average, with just 0.3 kilowatt hours of energy required per tonne and per 100 metres of lift height. For operating companies this means far lower investments in energy supplies. In addition, low-noise operations reduce the belt’s environmental impact by far. 2/4 Your contact: Mario Töpfer, +49 511 938-1304 -3- Captions CT_CBG_Pocketlift.jpg High-performance and space-saving: POCKETLIFT® can be used in narrow shafts and can cope with unlimited heights through modular arrangement of the conveyors Poto: ContiTech CT_CBG_Maxoflex.jpg MAXOFLEX® conveyor belts transport bulk materials on gradients of up to 90 degrees.
