Welcome---introduce training segment: Jonathan Fuqua, City of Covington Fire, presented the BullEx fire extinguisher simulator. Prices range from $4, 000-$5,000. II. Amendments To Agenda III. Grants VI. Committee Reports –With Discussion 1. SFMO- V. Pres. Karla spoke on the following: ***Donna Lee, American Red Cross was introduced and spoke about the Red Cross’ partnership with Disney on the Pillow Case Project. ***There were 346 attendees at the 2014 Symposium. A huge thank you to everyone that helped with the Symposium. ***The 2014 Life Safety Awards Luncheon will be held at GPSTC on Oct. 30th in Bays A&B. ***Prevention forms are on the website if you do not have a copy. ***They are in the process of updating the Child Care Fire Safety Curriculum to include new requirements of adult day care. An email with updated information will be sent out when this is completed. 2. GFA-Rodney spoke on the following: ***The Oct. 20th-24th Alternative Teaching Methods (Clown School) class is subject to being cancelled due to low enrollment. There is a need for at least eight more people in order for this not to happen. ***Fire Prevention Lab bids to close in under two weeks. ***Georgia Forestry are looking to landscape the outside of the Lab using Firewise guidelines. ***A few classes that are going to be taught starting in 2015 are Campus Fire and Life Safety, Campus fire and Life Safety 2, Campus Fire and Life Safety 3 3. SFBF4. GFBF-Dana emailed the following information as GFBF was not able to attend: Family Weekend-September 5th -7th at Will-A-Way. This is for any burn survivor and their family and/or caregivers. Applications are available on the website at www.gfbf.org. Please call Dana with questions. World Burn Congress-October 22nd -25th-Sponsorship applications available at www.gfbf.org. This a conference for burn survivors, family and friends of burn survivors, fire service, and burn care professionals interested in learning more about the burn injury experience. Please call Dana if you have questions or go online to complete an application. ABLS classes- September 8th at Grady and October 3rd in Savannah. Special Events: (This is event not on the website at this time) 1-800 Board Up-Charity Golf Tournament, Oct. 20th in support of GFBF will be held at the Northwood Country Club in Lawrenceville. $100 per player or $360 per team of 4. Sept. 27th, 10a-2p-2014 Gwinnet County Public Safety Fall Festival-Coolray Field, 2500 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. X. New Business: ***Pres. Wise the route for the 2015 Motorcycle Ride will change. ***Pres. Wise and Rodney are discussing a possible trip to Carroll County (which will include two other counties) for education for their personnel. They are looking at the second week of November and staying for a week.
