Job Title: Executive Director Reports To: Board of Directors Status: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt Position Description: Classroom Central equips students living in poverty to learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies. The Executive Director at Classroom Central is a position of community leadership that interfaces with the Board of Directors, donors, staff, local school districts, community leaders, business leaders and volunteers. For more information, visit www.classroomcentral.org Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Leads the organization by providing strategic direction and vision, as well as inspiring the organization’s employees, volunteers, Board of Directors and stakeholders. Oversees fund development, product distribution programs, financial operations and day-to-day activities through a management team, while building and leading the entire organizational team Provides leadership to and ensures success of fundraising, volunteers, and product donation programs. Establishes and nurtures relationships with key constituents and existing and potential donors. Serves as principal spokesperson for the organization. Works with Board of Directors to create structure for the board and to recruit to fill critical needs. Works in partnership with the Board of Directors to develop the strategic goals and direction for the organization while ensuring that the organization remains true to its strategic plan, mission, vision and values. Manages human resources to include hiring and training of employees, employee benefits coverage and payroll approval. Promotes a corporate culture that reflects the organization’s mission, vision and core values Cultivates and expands the organization’s key external relationships. Manages the organization’s resources and ensures fiscal responsibility, including direct responsibility for creating the annual budget, approving expenditures, and ensuring that internal control procedures are followed. Ensures that financial statements are prepared accurately and assists in the presentation of financial results to the Board of Directors. Oversees inventory management activities and ensures that assets are safeguarded. Acts as a liaison to the external CPA firm concerning the annual audit. Education and Experience Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree from 4-year accredited university or college. Preferred: Master’s degree from accredited university or college. Professional and Management Experience: 5-7 years with demonstrated track record of producing results, building relationships and growing organizations. Preferred: 10+ years. Non-Profit Experience: Understanding of and appreciation for the dynamics and functions of nonprofits gained through a prior leadership role. Leadership role may be from employment, board or volunteer involvement. Preferred: 3+ years of top-level leadership of a non-profit organization, especially as executive director. Community Involvement: Track record of active involvement, proven results and deep relationships in their community. Preferred: Well-known and respected in the Charlotte community. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to set a vision for an organization, develop strategy for achieving vision and bring people together to execute the strategy and make the vision a reality.
