VIOLENCE FREE CRISIS LINE Job Announcement POSITION: Executive Director REPORTS TO: Community Representative Co-Chair, Board of Directors STATUS/HOURS: Full time (40 hours/week), Salary DOE DESCRIPTION: The Director is responsible for the organizational management of the VFCL including staff supervision, fiscal accountability, direct services, funding, and community relations. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Operations: Oversees the daily operations of the VFCL; manages the growth and development of the VFCL in cooperation with the Board of Directors 2. Personnel management: Supervises, supports, and evaluates staff performance; oversees staff development and retention; develops job descriptions; hires staff with support from the Board of Directors; maintains personnel files for each employee 3. Crisis Intervention and Advocacy: Oversees crisis intervention and advocacy services provided by staff and volunteers; acts as resource for staff and volunteers; oversees policies and practices related to crisis intervention and advocacy 4. Grants: Completes all grant-writing for current sources of funding; seeks new sources of grant funding 5. Fundraising: Acts as a resource and support to the Board of Directors in fundraising activities; develops contacts and relationships with donors; sends financial requests to donors 6. Public relations: Oversees and leads all public relations including media contact, participation on community committees, and networking with human service and criminal justice agencies; seeks new opportunities for positive public awareness of the VFCL and its services 7. Community awareness and education: Conducts educational presentations to local organizations; oversees community education conducted by staff members; prepares newsletters; seeks new opportunities for education on domestic violence, sexual assault, and related issues 8. Political engagement: Participates in state and national coalitions; disseminates relevant political education locally; conducts outreach and advocacy with politicians 9. Financial function: Oversees the financial functions of the VFCL; prepares financial reports; prepares and monitors budget in conjunction with the Board of Directors QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree required in related field or equivalent, Masters degree in related field preferred Minimum five years experience in related field (human services, crisis intervention, advocacy, etc.) that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this role Minimum two years experience in personnel supervision, development, and management demonstrating strong leadership and interpersonal skills Proven history of successful grant writing and fundraising Experience in fiscal management Demonstrated operational and administrative management skills Competency in domestic violence and sexual assault intervention Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to handle discreet, confidential information POSTING DATE: June 2011 CLOSING DATE: July 6, 2011 FOR CONSIDERATION: Please send resume with cover letter and three professional references to the VFCL Board of Directors at vfclboardofdirectors@gmail.com.
