CDC Internships and Practicum CDC Summer Graduate Environmental Health Internship (GEH): The Graduate Environmental Health program (GEH) is a paid ten week summer internship available for graduate students with majors or interests deemed to be in support of environmental health missions at NCEH/ATSDR. During the program interns will be assigned to projects that utilize the skills they’ve acquired through graduate studies and personal experiences. Interns will also be able to take advantage of lecture series and other opportunities offered at the CDC (http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/geh/overview.htm). Application dates: Wednesday, October 22, 2014 through Wednesday, February 25, 2015 Internship dates: June 10 - August 14, 2015 Eligibility Requirements: US Citizen or Permanent Resident with green card, currently enrolled full-time graduate student in a degree granting program from which a degree has not been conferred at the time of the internship, minimum GPA of 3, and proof of health insurance Stipend: Interns will be provided a stipend of approximately $750 per week. Please note this stipend is delivered on a monthly basis, at the end of each month. Therefore, you will not receive your first paycheck until the last day of June. Travel to Atlanta will be the student’s responsibility. Potential housing options will be provided in advance, though interns will be expected to make their own arrangements for housing and transportation. *Note: Students graduating in Spring 2015 will not be accepted to this program. James A. Ferguson Emerging Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program: a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded, nine-week summer program providing educational and professional development opportunities for fellows interested in infectious diseases research and health disparities (http://www.kennedykrieger.org/professional-training/professional-training-programs/rise-programs/fergusonfellowship). Deadline: January 31, 2015 Program Dates: late May through late July. PROGRAM BENEFITS: A $4,000 stipend is provided for all participants, housing and round-trip travel are also available for out-of-state fellows, sponsorship to attend a national scientific meeting following abstract submission, sponsored membership in the American Public Health Association (APHA). ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Fellows who are members of underrepresented populations (as defined by the federal government) are strongly encouraged to apply! Be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a medical, dental, pharmacy, veterinary, or public health graduate program, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and have the ability to commit to the length of the fellowship.
